I have recently acquired a Yaesu System-600 HF transceiver. I do not have the unit in hand, but upon doing some reading, this radio uses one of three or four configuration keys to determine how the radio is used. I owned one these about 20 years ago, but literally cannot remember what these actually are. After some significant searching I cannot locate any information on what or where to get these, or even make them. Can someone enlighten me? I have a vertex VX-1700 that uses a jumper plug to enable the HAM bands. Is it anything similar to this?

Thanks

You must remove the original key , its on the front panel , next to the clarifier , on the service manual its identified as CK-3, its a lego like thing on the front pannel , mine says FT-600 on it, it has a 3 spring loaded prongs behind it , shorting the 3 should give you full coverage mode , mine is working like that , has ITU marine channels , VFO mode , and 2 banks of channels that can be user programmed via front pannel . if memory doesnt fail to me , i shorted the 3 using a piece of aluminum foil tape behind the original key (which was configured as Land mobile).
mine after 8 years switched on , has developed a PLL unlock when cold. still can find someone that is worth sending around here in Chile.

I sent Yaesu a couple of emails An no response. Thanks for heads up. This one did have anything in the slot, not even a cover. I knew that going into it. It turns on, but would like to find the FT-600 key. In the meantime I will find a way to short the three pins. Thanks

a trucker friend he put some steel wool on it , with a piece of electrical tape over it , at one time there were several Ft-600 and Vx1700 on the surplus market around here, i remember paying about 400usd for mine new in the box from a mining company that was switching to Codan radios, why not solder a wire behind the pannel and 3d print a key for the hole , did some buttons for my tm241 a few years ago.
