True. Actually not a bad little radio as I had one for two years.

Check out the ebay link above. it is a different radio than this one. Is looks like a true yaesu radio but with all the copies out there it make you wonder......

there are no references to it on any of the Vertex websites worldwide. It is NOT the LMR VX-10, follow the link and see for yourself. I sent Vertex USA an email inquiring about the rig. I'll post what I get in reply. But it sure looks bogus and the telltale signs of cheap Chinese knockoff are there.

Interesting that the antenna shown appears like the 6m/2m/440 type with the removable section for 6M, yet the box say "144/430MHz".

My money says it's a fake. The Ebay auction shows several sold. Anyone got one care to comment?

I will agree with MTS2000des, I believe these are chinese knock offs and have the same quality as them.

Blatantly obvious knockoffs/knockups courtesy of the Chinese electronic manufacturing industry.

No doubt there are some factories churning out all the bits and pieces that legitimate manufacturers buy to build radios, but once the contracts are fulfilled, they start making all sorts of weird and wonderful stuff.

Nice to have a throwaway radio such as a Wouxun, but it is going too far to try and pass the cheap stuff off as a legitimate brand which someone may mistakenly buy and regret it.

I am particularly concerned about the dangers of cheap Li-Ion batteries and chargers.
Thermal runaway in lithium based batteries can result in very nasty fires.
There are some scary videos on Youtube illustrating the outcome.

Would you leave one of those cheap batteries on charge unattended in your home?

I concur 100 percent comscanaus. What is scary is some of these radios are being used in commercial service. The quality of Chinese lithium ion batteries is suspect, not to mention the charging circuitry. You get what you pay for.
Let's see how good the knock off is when it sets your home or business on fire or burns a hole in your pants when it's cheap lithium battery becomes an personal explosive device.

Nothing is really known about who makes the radios, the quality control used, source of parts, safety certifications, nothing. The US distributor of one of these doesn't even list his phone number citing his "sharing a phone line" and "doesn't want his phone ringing all hours of the day or night". Yeah, nothing hokey about that.

But these impostor products give the legit manufacturers a bad name. I have yet to hear a reply from Yaesu/Vertex USA.
