Yaesu VX 7R Programming Software?

Hey. Just wondering if anyone knows where I can download the programming software for the VX7R?

I ordered the cable and it came with a CD.... None if my computer take CD's anymore other then my mac. The software isn't MAC compatible.


Any Help?

The only radio programming software I can find for the VX-7 is CHIRP, which is an open source program available in Windows, Linux, and Mac OS versions, and RT Systems which is a paid product only available for Windows.

Put the cd in your mac.
Plug a thumb drive into an available usb port on the Mac.
Copy the file from the cd to a thumb drive.
Move the thumb drive to a usb port on the windoze machine.
Copy from the thumb drive to the hard drive.

Or go to the store and spend $29.95 and buy a USB CD drive.

I installed it all and got my cable. I plugged it all in and there is no comunication between the computer and the Yaseu?

Yaseu vx7 Programming?

Hey. I was just wondering if anyone has tied programming a VX7r with the cables and software from Egey?

I got a cable and software. It's called SMP. The software loads fine and all and I installed the drivers for the serial port. But I'm not getting any connection. I checked and the drivers are installed correctly. but there is no communication between the computer and the radio.

I'm using a ACER netbook, with XP.

I also have some mac's

I am wondering is there some kind of setting on the radio to allow it to communicate? or when I plug it in should it just show up or something?

I've used neither.

My guess is that if you are using a USB cable, that you'll need to check the Windows Device Manager to see which COM port the USB adapter assigned.

If you have a problem with the RT Systems cable or software, your best bet is to contact them directly.

Never heard of them. Can you provide a link? Have you contacted the vendor to see if they can address your problem?

Just a thought here - some software must have the cable plugged in to make it work. Try connecting the cable (you likely wouldn't need the radio turned on) then executing the software...won't hurt anything if it doesn't work

It may be checking for something in the cable to validate the installation...

I figured it out...

You need to hold down the MON button while powering the radio on to enter CLONE mode. Then you press BAND to start the CLONE RX. and it will communicate with the computer.
