Keep what you hear to yourself

Discrete is elite.

What is your problem, why would you post this.
Anyone with a digital scanner here can hear stuff, Do any of us here post it publically?
Enjoy in the clear stuff, keep posting crap like this and maybe someone will read it and maybe they will use encryption more often. There have gotta be cop types on here who might not like it that they are in the clear.

Same ol questions with you NEC208,

Noone here gives a damm about what you monitor, how you monitor and how many talkgroups is overload for you.
If you lived in Toronto your head would explode. you would have to have 3 scanners to follow one call for EMS FDP & PD.

Yes, it was organized crime related. It was a warrant executed in conjunction with Toronto Police, York Police, Ontario Provincial Police and the RCMP. Comms were found on Fleetnet (encrypted Organized Crime talkgroups), I-TAC2 and Toronto Police ISS system.

:mad:I can't agree with you more EJB, It's a wonder why people in this hobby don't under stand why everyone is going encrypted, Maybe everyone who has a scanner in Canada has forgot what the law is pertaining to the use of a scanner, you are not to pass on what you hear on the scanner or post what you hear or pass on any information you hear on the scanner. I don't know what is so hard to understand about this. You have these armchair want a be lawyers who put there own interpretation on this law and then we in this hobby pay the consequence and see more people going to encryptions. I think it's time for the moderators of the forums in Canada to stop allowing this great web site to be used to break the law because some people can't keep their mouths shut.

LETS ALL STOP this before we really regret it.

Steve:
I dont really know if what we say about the PD calls or FDP calls have in any ways made it harder for us to listen to the agencies but I dont think talking about drug busts are going to do us any good.
Hotshot lists are on the margin IMO, I mean my child needed a trip in the ambulance; do I want any of you guys to know where I live and why she had to go there?
I understand that if the agencies cared they could encrypt.

I dont see why NEC208 has to post info regarding busts and Mike Ex, honestly, you got a great deal of knowledge, I have been a member of these forums along with you, you know you're stuff; but why confirm NEC208? why? Think about what good you are doing here and if mentioning take downs is benficial please enlighten me.

Jellotar is kinda the guy I try to emulate here, he knows of what he is talking about and is humble, he does not brag about secret info and his moto is a smart one

I really comes down to the fact that we are not to pass on (any information) we hear on these scanners, it's against the law, and it does not matter if we think it's ok. This can be used against us people in the hobby by people who want to push for encryption in the future. And no one should think that it can't happen, Niagara Regional police went encrypted because of scanners and other reasons and Niagara Falls Parks police went onto the Niagara Regional Police system. As time goes on the price of encryption goes down and new technology becomes availible more agencies will go this rout and one of the reasons is because of people passing on information we hear, it may not seem like it's no big deal to some people about fire calls or ambulance calls but for the people who are on these systems it is a big deal. Any way I think I will just close myself out of this conversation, I made my point and it all comes down to the LAW and we may not agree with it but we are doing a great disservice to the hobby by passing on any information.
Take Care

NEC208 you will learn the hard way same as i did... Some things are better left unsaid.... I did it before as well and it got me banned on ScanOnt with a posting about CIB... Wasn't one of my brightest moves.. Funny I got banned on ScanOnt but my post remained on their without being deleted... Guess that was Steve's thinking of how to handling it.. Mine was just a stupid reply to someones question and never thought about what i was saying till after the fact... NEC208 just be careful what you ask.... You could in the end screw it up for all of us....

No they are going encrypted for safety of the officers and to catch criminals. If the criminals know the cops are coming they could take of on foot or in a car or get their guns. That say the organize drug bust was part of the hells Angels and 10 guys in a house know the cops are coming they could get the their guns and have shooot out or take off.

So they are going encrypted for safety of the officers and to catch criminals. Also the news media who are cop chasers and post sensitive stuff.

And other calls I was hearing in Peel like 10-47 B&E,home invasion, suspections car or suspicious person who is GOA that may have had a scanner.

I dont really know if what we say about the PD calls or FDP calls have in any ways made it harder for us to listen to the agencies but I dont think talking about drug busts are going to do us any good.

I have a problem with Hotshot groups and live scanners yes that is going to get them to go to encrypted talkgroups.

But none of my post or post here at this group have post any personal info like names or house address that may expose a person. If I say I hear a domestic a fight with mom and son in Brampton well I'm not giving a house address or name .

A call on a city street is in public realm like a MVC at jane and 7 and people here are not giving names or patient condition so no personal info .

Or some thing at a strip club in Brampton at the SNS is in a public realm .

You just don't get it, NEC. Don't post ANYTHING you hear on the scanner, and you'll be better off. Easy enough.

Well the thing is just don't post personal info like a name or address and some thing like CIB is best after not doing the call.

And some post are better just a PM that posting it on the net.

You really cannot stop the cops going to encryption. Most cops in BC and Alberta you cannot pick them up.

And I'm sure when PRP,YRP and Toronto is going to upgrade the radio system the cops are going to encryption. You will be lucky if the dispatch talkgroups are not.

And I'm not posting hotshot calls I hear .

I don't care if the cops go encrypted. In fact, I don't think my post had anything to do with that.

You do that and be sure to let us know how it works out for you.

Your original post that got people telling you not to post, was related to a warrant/bust. That's a far cry from a plane crash, or what you would see on the 6pm news.

You need to use common sense in what you post. What if the "bad guys" hadn't been caught in that bust and by some fluke happened to see your post? Infact, when they do a warrant like that, more often than not, the guy isn't even home. The media won't report on things like that, or anything they hear on the scanner. The media can only report on things they get confirmed through official channels. Warrants are rarely confirmed, unless it is part of a larger incident such as a large cocaine or gun ring.

Just use common sense in what you post and nobody is going to bark at you too badly.

Well first I did not post the adress so it could bean anyone and also any drug bust does make the news .Look at the sudbury drug bust it was on the news and I did not hear it on the scanner. And 10+ guys getting busted is going to be on the news.

Look at all the other drug bust that make the news.No where did I post personal info .And thats why I will never give house address I don't need some street thug taking me to court that reads this thread.

Well sure may be some thugs are still out there but really I'm sure there are way more than 5 crack houses in York.May be there are more guys out there , but I did hear many people arrested.

I did not post the address of the drug bust. The hillcrest mall was other day before the drug bust and I believe someone had drugs or trying selling it.There is all kinds of drug house and people wanted in York its a big area not some small town.

In no way I posted personal info.
