Hi all. When I travel and input the zip code of my current location in my PSR-800 it does not give me an option of what scan list to down load all the freq in to.

It will down the freq. into my default scan list #1. But there is already so much in that list it becomes almost impossible to monitor.

If I search by county I can input onto a whichever different scan list I choose. Is this normal or am I missing something?

On the `General Settings' `tab', AKA the `main page' in the `Scanlist Control' section you can change which Scanlist is your default Scanlist. I generally have the default set to Scanlist 200 and then shuffle things around from there.

The problem that *I* have with the `Location' `feature' is that it always tries to throw in CCs that have absolutely no reason to program into the scanner for the area I might be trying to program in. And I have also had to go through the TGs and delete TGs for the same reason, too. It might be a good idea for other systems but, for the CODTRS as far as I can tell, it just is more hassle than it's worth for me. Maybe, I'm not going to hold my breath, it might eventually end up getting somehow sorted out and working?

Thanks for the reply. But don't you need the computer to follow your suggestion. I don't usually don't travel with my laptop since I got my I-PAD.

Is there a way to specify scan lists right from the radio with zip code input? It can be done with county input. The option appears to choose scan list to import to. But not with zip code search.

This is normal, when importing using the Zip Code, County, or City methods, the items will be imported into scanlists based on the Usage Tag from the RR database. Those scanlists start at scanlist 151 and go up to 200.

My condolences in regards to the I-PAD. And, yes, to *really* do *major* changes having at least a basic Windows laptop is necessary.

One *can* both get rid of that annoying, supposedly `advanced feature', `Set Location/Location Select' function *and* set your `default' scanlist in the scanner itself. You go into `Settings' from the main screen menu and scroll up, rather than the `usual?' scroll down, and make certain that `LocationSelect' is unchecked. Then you continue scrolling up until you come to `Default SL: xxx where you can set the, obviously, Default Scanlist. After doing that it is basically `business as usual' when you go to adding new information. If you don't, or forget to, specify a particular `Scanlist' for whatever you load it will upload to that `Default Scanlist' instead of, annoyingly, Scanlist 001. Unfortunately, if you feel it is necessary to do more `fine tuning' than what the scanner itself can do, a `normal' computer is still necessary but, at least you are free of the hassles of `Set location/LocationSelect' and `Default SL:001'.

zip code input so far unsucessful

Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong when I try to enter a zip code it tells me the zip code was not found in the data base. I have tried numerous different zip codes with no luck. I figure I'm missing some setting I have set wrong. But I have reset everything back to the default settings and allowed the "Location" switch to be active. I can enter a zip code but it is not recognized, or a place, "by City". When I try that it asks for the first letter of my state and thats as far as it goes. Any ideas?

When you enter a zip code (try "17331" - I just did and it worked fine), the next prompt should be "Default Types" or "Custom Types". Do you reach that point?

If not, maybe you are missing the libraries and/or they are corrupt. You may want to hook up to the PC and copy the libraries onto your SD card again using EZ SCan (Scanner/SD Card -> Copy Library to Scanner Memory/SD Card).... and then try the import again

zip code input

Has anyone else noticed that the "add by zip code" is messed up since the last update. Here in San Joaquin county, if I add by zip code, instead of getting 200 freq's I now get over a 1000. Problem is many of the freq's are out of range of my scanner. They are more than 50 miles away?! This make the scanner so quiet, you would think the radio is dead.
Any one else notice?
