Default Pro96Com Affiliate/Unaffiliate Question

I'm noticing a handful of radios constantly affiliating and re-affiliating with the same talkgroup over and over again without un-affiliating... This handful of radios (about a half-dozen) make up the single biggest block of request on my affiliation log - what agency is using them is not known and the talkgroup is unknown...

Any ideas?

That may be the way the radios are programmed to operate.

Constantly? Sometimes every 30 seconds over and over again with no other activity? That would mean that somewhere there's half a radios just sitting powered but not being used... And programmed just to affiliate over and over...

That doesn't make sense.

I'm sending you a screenshot...

I've seen radios on the MPSCS here in Michigan affiliating on a regular basis, but another radio on the same system only once in a while. What the difference really is, I don't know...

It's pretty common. It happens when two or more sites are within range of the radio and because of signal fading and such site signal levels will buoy above and below the switching threshold causing the radio to hop sites.

The radio does not have to deaffiliate from a site when it leaves. A majority of the time you see deaffiliations it's from powering down or knowingly leaving the system (like for a conventional channel).
