Default unitrunker laptop vs desktop

I was on my laptop for a few hours I have win7 on laptop it will run for a few mints than it quit picking up the info I have to unplug the usb and start over again than it starts quitting again. I try to use my desktop has xp on it I can't get the health mode to go from 0 to what ever it suppose to be. I followed according to this link UniTrunker | BCD996XT | BCD396XT | BC346XT | BCT15X but when I log into downlaod site goes fine but on laptop a window comes up starts searching etc... desktop doesn't show that 2nd window.

I have this set up

Audio Port Soundmax digital audio
sample rate 96000
sample size 16
channel Mono

Serial Port com3
band rate 115200
data bits 8
stop bits 1
party None
logging unchecked
chase unchecked
park 855.6625
mode auto I even try FM
Health 0
lock mode none

Check your task bar. The missing Window may be hidden by another window.

Does your '396XT have a discriminator tap? If you're trying to use the radio's CC dump feature, create the receiver as an Inline model, not a "Both" model.

Radios *login* to the network when first turned on and *logout* when powered off. They can *join* or *leave* a talkgroup. A dispatcher can *add* two or more talkgroups together to form a patch, and *drop* them when no longer needed. A radio can *call* a talkgroup or another radio. There are a few others.

This sounds like a power saving setting. (Maybe the HD is stopping.) When running on a laptop (plugged in) I have all power saving settings disabled.
