I have noticed that when using Pro96Com (I don't use any other decoding software ATM so I'm not sure about the rest), it lists a bunch of channels almost immediately (even with 0 hits). How do you know what channels the system uses. I don't see any kind of control channel message that states this (unless I missed it somewhere).

For Pro96Com:

c = Active/Primary Control Channel
a = Alternate Control Channel
v = Voice Channel
i = CWID Channel
d = Data Channel

c and a will populate almost immediately. The rest will populate as voice or data calls are made on the system. If the system sends out a CWID (call sign), that will populate as i. Some frequencies may have a combination of multiple usages.

Woops, that's my fault. Pro96Com evidently stores channels in a file and I've always assumed it was instantly populating the channels.
