Error Code 2755 While Installing UniTrunker 0.1.0.51

While trying to install UniTrunker 0.1.0.51 on my WinXP laptop, I get an error message when the program begins to write, just after the file location screen. I get "The system cannot open the device or file specified." Clicking on "Try Again" gives the same message. After clicking on cancel, I get the message "The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2755."

I'm certian this is a XP problem, but cannot locate any information on this error message, or error code. Any one have a clue how to fix this so I can install UniTrunker?

Is the MSI file on your laptop's local hard drive or located on another machine across a network? All I can suggest is (1) copy the MSI to a temp folder on your C drive and
(2) reboot to clear out (or complete) the effects of some other installation.

I downloaded it to my windows desktop and ran it from there. I also tried running it directly from the server. I got the same error both ways, and yes, I have rebooted several times.

I have no idea what is causing this.

You say you're having trouble with the laptop but the download was done from the desktop.

Did you transfer the MSI file to the laptop and then run it?

Do you have any additional information such as ... a screenshot of the error or an exact wording of the error message?

What folder did you choose for the install?

When you click on "Disk Costs", what does it say?

Did you choose "Everyone" or "Just me" ?

Do you have sufficient admin rights to install software on the laptop?

It would appear that the OP has insufficient permissions to the %windir%\Installer folder, or the Windows Installer service is unable to create the %windir%\Installer folder.

I wrote that I downloaded the file to the WINDOWS DESKTOP, not a desktop computer. The file was downloaded to the WINDOWS DESKTOP on the laptop computer.

I wrote all the information the error box contained.

Yes, I've loaded a ton of software on this machine without any problems.

I have sufficient permissions, I load software on it all the time.

Andrew is talking about the C:\Windows\Installer folder (that's the most likely place on XP). One of the tasks handled by Microsoft's Installer is to place the UN-installer in that folder. Normally you will see a much more descriptive error message. I can't tell if this folder is the problem or if there is something else going on.
