Default Daniels P25 Trunking

What protocol does the daniels p25 trunking system use? I know that they use DES-OFB and some Motorola equipment is compatable with it, Is it like EF Johnson LTR or something?

DES-OFB has to do with encryption, P25 is a protocol that is widely used in north america for public safety. It has nothing to do with LTR. Take a look here: Project 25 - The RadioReference Wiki for more info about P25(anything in blue is a link)

P25 is Motorola, I don't know if P25 actually has a privacy plus, smart-net, or smart-zone indicator like an analog system. For scanner purposes, it doesn't matter just Motorola.

P25 is not manufacturer specific (proprietary). It is a standard for for digital voice and data communications. P25 can be conventional or trunked. (There is a P25 trunked system in Parker county). The more I learn about Digital modulation, the more I am beginning to dislike it.
Case in point: FF on a handheld in a building and the signal is margianl out of the bldg - With an analog frequency, the audio will be choppy but present. With Digital it is all or nothing.
Unless a system is designed and implemented for hand held coverage, I want nothing to do with it for public safety.

There are several companies with P25 trunking systems, Daniels, Harris(was MA-Com), Moto, Tait, EF Johnson and so on...
