    Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value.     The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

    For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Mixed UHF/VHF system

Is it possible to have on the same system a mix of UHF & VHF control channels? In Victoria we have a Metro network that runs on UHF P25 PI that has fringe towers that have VHF CC's also. I was wondering if the systems would be able to be linked and maybe crossbanded so that a VHF radio would be able to TX on a patched UHF TG?

For example our Rural FD are using what we call the RMR (VHF) and the Metro FD are using the MMR (UHF). Would they be able to have lets say RMR TGID 1234 patched to MMR TGID 4567? They both have their own CC's

Simple answer: yes, IF the owners set them up to be able to patch between the two systems.

The short answer is answer is yes, provided control and voice channels exist for each band. The system controller does not care what the frequency is. MOSWIN is being rolled out as such a system. IDAS does this also.

Also, Icom is just now introducing a P25 repeater that can do double duty as both a control channel and talk channel repeater. Obviously not both at the same time, but their market is single repeater coverage of fringe areas, a long linear string of single repeater sites (ie rail or highway), and limited 'odd' band coverage for interoperability.
