Default Limit on control channels

Just thinking here about an easy way to travel and monitor a system so I'm wondering what the limit is on the number of control channels. Thinking if I just put in the control channels for the statewide system and used wildcards as I drive it would just move on to the tower it can pickup. Is this wrong? I'm only talking about for areas I don't normally travel and this as a way to still use the G5 to monitor them.

I have all the CC's for NC Viper for the towers that cover I-95 programmed in and all the TG's for NCHP. assigned it to one knob position and it roams perfectly as I travel.

You don't need to count them but can you give me a guess as to how many control channels you have programmed in there?

Unication website says you can input up to 256 Control Channels, unless there's a new update that allows MORE.
