Unication really needs to update their Bluetooth protocol. It's not compatible with most modern Bluetooth devices

First impressions of my newly purchased G4 with embedded Phase-2 capability:
-Superior digital audio when comparing to my older G5 on Phase-1 systems even . , audio is more natural, less ‘digital’ sounding. I am expecting the pending P2 upgrade on my G5 to yield similar audio fidelity to my new G4, when the newer vocoder gets loaded during the update
-Phase-2 simulcast system performance is nothing short of spectacular. . clean and loud audio, no anomalies at all so far
-So far, knock on wood, no missed transmissions!

Not sure on the antenna, but I charge mine at night and it goes all day (about 16hrs) and still has a bar left on a fairly busy system. A lot will depend on ur settings, I have my brightness auto set, and my backlight time-out is 40 secs. So far very happy with battery life.

SMA Male. Just be warned that you should trim away the excess on the bottom of most aftermarket antennas. Without trimming, you risk pulling up the center pin in the antenna connector. Take your time doing it and get the sharpest cutter you can. Here's the poor work I did to a 6595A.

Battery life is pretty good. Easily a full day or more even on really busy systems. A really nice feature is that the charging port is just a standard microUSB connector. Get a 2A car charger or battery pack capable of 2A and you can top it off if you need to.

Can you give some examples of which bluetooth devices would work with the G4/G5?

In what ways?
I'm curious because every Bluetooth audio device I've connected my G5 to works.

On the Pioneer deck I have in my car, the G5 was immediately picked up and sounds awesome. The different Bluetooth speakers I have around my house all work as well.

I have never owned (or plan to ever buy) a Bluetooth headset so I can't speak to those.

The G Series radios use an antenna with a SMA female connection.

Source for the $100 increase you expect?

Ray's Pagers lists the Ph. 2 G4 at $595.00 regular price, 565.50 promotion. Difference of $29.50.
Ph. 2 G5 at $695.00 regular price, 660.25 promotion. Difference of $34.75.

Thanks.

$595 is the *MSRP* for the G4. Ray's discount price (regardless of Phase II) is $565. The current promotion is "free Phase II" (i.e. you get Phase II for the usual Ray's price for non-Phase II). I have not yet seen a MSRP for the Phase II model, but we presume that it'll be higher - maybe $695 or $745 for the G4?

I've been able to get it to sortof work with the JVC head unit in my truck, and an Altec Lansing portable speaker. Both are probably ~10 years old, though. There are (at least) two problems with the BT support, which have been discussed in other threads....

1) It disconnects after each "voice message" ... this causes bits of short messages to get dropped (it takes some milliseconds to disconnect/reconnect each time) ... which can be exacerbated by some BT devices making "beeps and boops" on connect/disconnect

2) I've read that it doesn't work with BT 4.0 devices

For me, (1) makes it virtually useless .. especially for monitoring rapid-fire traffic (e.g. police dispatch).

Thanks.
Right before they extended the promotional pricing, Ray's had "normal" pricing on the Phase II pagers and if I remember correctly, it was around $90-100 higher than the Phase I pagers.

Just got my Phase 2 G5 a few weeks ago. Loving it so far.

I have noticed it will sometimes get "stuck" on a talkgroup after the transmission. It doesn't happen often. Maybe 3-4 times since I've had it. I just turn it off and back on and it's fine.

Anybody else had this happen? I'm new to Unication. Maybe a setting I need to adjust?

Thanks

Has anyone using the G4 with P2 had any issues with it ignoring one control site in a multi-site system? Listening to our local P25 P2 system here in TX. Get site 2 transmissions loud and clear but can't get squat off of site 1. Checked frequencies for the control channels and everything is good there.
