I received my replacement, it was packed good, and works well, no hiss on the headphones anymore, Thank you Uniden Team.

now back to mastering the variables that all must be aligned to enable the unit to pass a signal out of the speaker...location, location control, radius, Monitor on, download on,Service type selected, Favorite FLQK enabled, System SQK enabled, department DQK enabled, and the matching layers of avoids not enabled.....

If lunch is also involved, seems like a no-brainer!

Default Headphone Campaign Details

I received my replacement scanner yesterday, I was number 122. It arrived in perfect condition as promised, which was a big relief. The packaging still was lacking, with only 3 ply of flattened paper between the bottom of the box and the radio. But it didn't appear to be moving around in the box and arrived undamaged so I can't really complain. Of interesting note I did receive an email from Uniden with the tracking number, which arrived exactly 14 minutes before the package was delivered at my door and 5 days after the radio left Uniden. Must have gotten delayed in cyberspace somewhere.

I was a bit frustrated that my replacement didn't ship until 2 full days after my return showed up in the UPS system, but since my replacement still arrived 7 days after I dropped mine off it's probably not that fair to complain. I think given my desire to get back up and running I was being a bit impatient.

Overall I would say the experience was pretty good (not including the anxiety generated while reading some of the forum traffic). Sure there have been a few horror stories (which I am sure will be rectified) but I wanted to make sure everyone knew there are plenty of folks getting back a radio in just as good shape as the one they returned, which in my case is like brand new. I am still a satisfied customer and look forward to seeing the Siren app and tweaks applied in future firmware updates.

My replacement arrived yesterday. It was in perfect condition even though the packing could have been better. It had firmware 1.01.05 so I updated to the new 1.03.03 version even though I had read that some who updated to that had some problems. It seems to be working fine on this unit. The head phone hiss is not there and sounds great now through the headset. I like that 3 year warranty sticker also. Thanks Uniden

Wink Double boxit Please

As something as Important like these Radios are to me they need to be bubble rapped & Double Boxed put the Radio in Rap followed by in the inner box that's just a bit bigger than the Radio itself then put it in the Outer box filled with packing peanuts.

When Home theater Specialist, McIntosh ships there Home theater equipment that's any were from the Home units to the speakers they're Double box it for total protection..

Yes this may seem a bit costly but if I was Customer that was sending in my Unit I would request it & pay for if need be. Bear

Why cannot each individuals packing remain with their radio during the process and the same material used to reship? The descriptions and videos of the packing methods used to return these $600 radios is preventing me from wanting to send mine in for the repair. I mean really, is there any reason why 90% of the packing material is on top of the radio and the radio itself is literally sitting on a couple sheets of flattened paper at the bottom of the box?

Got a new replacement today. 6 day turnaround and the radio is in pristine condition with no issues.

The radio was so well packed that it took me forever to un-pack it which is a good thing.

The replacement radio is brand new.

From my experience having had to be my own shipping and receiving department dealing with repairs of computers, a lot depends on the destination. I found that FedEx was generally better, but if it was a more rural area, UPS did better. YMMV.

Looking at some of the posts here, bringing a pacifier with you would help.

Received my replacement - Updated firmware - swapped with my other 536 that provides an online feed - changed nothing with my computer settings - now the Line In cuts out after 5 seconds of audio - on every transmission. No Hiss - but now hardly any audio at all from the front Headphone jack ..... Has anyone else experienced this ? Sounds great with no audio line attached - but the output is cutting off after about 5 seconds.

I even set squelch to open to test this - same result - after 5 seconds it cuts out completely.

I don't know if I am the first Canadian to use the program but I hope my experiences is good. My scanner is on the fix and return program so see how long it takes. Unless UPS handles this faster than the normal standard shipment it will not be there until Wednesday of next week meaning seven nights in transit. I wish that for us Canadians we had a bit faster service. Not asking for next day but the three-day would be nice.

I wish that in the process of getting a shipping label UPS also provided us Canadians the online customs declaration form. If I had followed the instructions from UPS place the shipping label on dropped in a drop-box it would have be returned to me increasing my time to get the unit back. Thankfully I took it to the local UPS store and the girl caught it.

Now I just hope that when I get it back UPS doesn't want to rape and pillage me on brokerage fee. UPS has the highest most outrageous brokerage fees of any carrier. Before anyone tell me that UPS doesn't charge brokerage fees if there is no tax or duty being charged, I know people who have been charged brokerage fee just to get it over the border when CBSA did not assess tax or duty.

I would like to thank you UPMan for providing the return shipping cost to getting it fixed as I think it is only fair that those choosing to have their units fixed and returned have their inbound and outbound shipping costs covered by Uniden. I know you ended up doing this due to the larger volumes seen earlier in the program but if you're going to cover their inbound and outbound shipping is only fair that you cover are inbound and outbound shipping. That was the only thing that irritated me with this whole program was Uniden wanting me to pay my inbound. Now I just hope Uniden packs the scanner as well if not better than I sent it to them for the return trip.

Now it seems to be cutting out with the old one so it is not scanner specific.

I was trying to take an audio sample via PC the other day, and I experienced quite a bit of hiss and had to keep adjusting levels to get it right...and still was quite noticeable. However, I did not recall hearing anything with headphones.

Rear speaker jack seemed ok, but could never get the levels ok.

I am wondering if there is some sort of audio filter in place or in the design that some audio devices will pick up on or not. Being an audiophile, I notice these things and have equipment that does that others may not.

Not that a scanner is by any means a hi-fi device

If you ship the scanner in adequate packaging, we will re-use your packing when shipping it back. We are recommending that you first put the scanner in the original inner box (brown box) then box that in a carton. If you do this, the scanner will be very protected on its way to us and we'll return it also with the inner carton, very protected.

I wish I had known that yesterday as that is what I was going to do but not knowing if I would get it back I didn't.

Looks like my parcel is sitting in Calgary Alberta waiting to be manifested so it can carry on to the border and beyond. (Shipment submitted to Clearing Agency, awaiting final release.) I can't say for sure but if UPS had provided the online customs form I feel I would've avoided this hold.

I sent mine in bubble wrap, which was wrapped with brown paper, and then another layer of bubble wrap. Got the replacement sitting on the bottom of the box with some crushed brown paper on top.

No problem, UPS around here is really good and it was a short trip.

Did you by any chance change the mini-USB serial/mass storage cable port between the original (recalled) version, and the new version? Reason I ask, Ive been running it in serial mode for 4 days straight, and it hasnt dropped back into mass storage mode once. The returned scanner would last from between 5 minutes to two hours, but never made it a whole day. Both were (are) on the same firmware version.

Think those people that used the wrong part on the speaker might have been using a cheap jack, and when you caught em they started using a good one? Thats the only reason I can come up with.

In any case, Im glad I went ahead and shipped it back. This one works SO much more reliably.
