Just got mine back. RMA 215. I was excited to see how well it was packed after seeing the reports here. It arrived double boxed!

However, upon getting to the actual radio, I was quickly disappointed.

I noticed some scuffs on the case. Very possible these were here before from installing in my car, but I can't say for sure. So I won't complain or make a deal about this. It's not seen in my install anyway.

BUT, What I'm certainly not happy about is the scuffs on the display screen. These were certainly not there before. Almost looks like the facepiece was removed during re-work and slid across the workbench face down.

Yes it is off. I have a second 536 and it is back at Uniden now. I will compare that unit when it returns and see how the sensativity is on that.

Hi Upman my Ref # 79 I was one of the 1st to return my 536 and had to wait a few days to get it, my old ones was there before I got the replacment one,

Todays is my 1st time to realy mess around with it, the scanners is great,.. but here it comes...., the function knob does work,.... but more like a joystick, I would say it wables around a good 1/8 to a 1/4 of a inch, what should be my next step here. Contact support, the more I mess around with it, I know this cant be right, I am thinking that the knob will fall off soon, I want to keep my 3 year warenty at this point here, the up and down play on this knob is just not right.my email is listed below please fill free to use it.

I have around 12 plus scanners sitting on my decktop none have knobs that move around like this, not even my old bearcat 20/20 or my old Sears 23 channel SSB CB.

By the way the old 20/20 still runs like a champ, I hope the 536 can say the same after after being in service that long.
I dont want my money back or anything like that, I just want what I paid for something that can bring me years of enjoyment just like the old 20/20 did.

Thanks for all of your hard work Paul.

Ken

LB654 can you pull the knob off) it could be possible that it has a cracked or split knob which could of been damaged when it was being checked out don't know if that would be for sure or not but if the knob was solid before you sent it in then I'd be suspect to wonder and i would have a new one sent out or something..

This is a replacement scanner, Not the original, if I would have known that It woked like this , I would have kept the orininal scanner as it worked better, other then the headphone thing and I was useing a good headphone as this new one works just fine as far as that, but as far as the knob thing, I just dont know what to say about that, the headphone problem is far better,.then KNOB falling off. I just hope that it will be faster then my last 10 day turn around, I would love to program the 536 and my 436. but I wont do so unitil I have two working units here.

ffexcp: I looked at mine (never been back to Uniden) and see almost exactly the same scuffs. Thinking about it (then trying it) I see that my thumb/fingernails drag right there when turning the knob/pushing the buttons. Are you sure that isn't what you are seeing?

I was able to buff it off pretty easily (but was prepared to use some toothpaste if simple buff rag didn't work). I'll be more careful (or trim my nails)...

lowboy654: Some play in that knob is normal. Is it possible for you to take a quick video of the play so that I can verify that you aren't just possibly noticing something that was there before? (Not doubting too much, but also wanting to err on the side of you not being without your scanner if you don't have to be.)

Petrol88: I was thinking similarly...ffexcp: Is it possible? The faceplate/knobs are never separated during the rework procedure (the entire front cabinet comes off, but knobs all stay on). It would be extremely difficult to scuff the display on any surface during rework (all surfaces are padded, and the knobs would keep the lens off of the surface in any event).

My units went in for repair, received them back without issues and the problem is corrected. Aside from the return shipping packaging, in which Uniden did a terrible job protecting the radios in shipment; overall Uniden did a great job handling this issue and the replacements, and even extending the warranty for three years was a good idea as well. I'm a happy customer in this regard.

However, I'd really like to know when the "Siren" app is coming and when the additional features are going to be added to the radio? It's been almost three months since it's release, and yes, I know there has been issues to correct, but development on those items shouldn't have ceased during this time...

Well Uniden?

Both my 536 knobs move that much. I think that is normal.

Mine is the same way:

It functions just fine. From what I can tell, it is perfectly normal.

Sent from my ELF array.

So Paul is this the norm ? turn the knob and it fills like it will fall off in your hand, my 1st one did not do that, I myself have never seen that before with any device, unless there where more functions involved with that type of movement.
