Dont know if this has been mentioned before, or if its already available, but the ability to record and store voice right on the unit. I know you can send it to a peripheral device, but some of the Minitor 2 pagers out there have the option to store voice. Something like that would be pretty awesome.

I would pay maybe $200 for Uniden if they made user-friendly scanner software that could work with any number of SDR modules.

Default my 2 cents

- NXDN
- MOTOTRBO
- P25 Phase II TDMA and P25 X2-TDMA

All of the local PD's in my county are switching over to NXDN and the Railroad will also be doing so sometime in the next 5 years.

Cat 5 or 6 so you can stream it over your home network. Perhaps have in your shack and listen to it anywhere home or even over the internet. While we are at it remote programming as well. Bluetooth audio streaming as well.

I'll call it "Adaptive Priority"
Every system is rated from 1, 2, 3, ...... to however many system you have. If system 1 is active it gets scanned. If activity slows down then it starts scanning system 2 also. If they are quiet it adds system 3 to the scan, and so on. You never have dead air but your favorite system always gets priority.

A newer version of the 396XT / 996XT that has some of the HP-1 features like GPS rectangles, unlimited TGIDs per trunked system, and unlimited groups in both conventional and trunked systems. Also maybe a 20 character alpha display. And of course P25-Phase II TDMA.

It would be good if Uniden did the following in a newer scanner:

* Implement fast and effective subtone decoding
* Include support for more than 500 Talkgroups per trunked system
* Implement a digital AGC that works - the current one is a joke
* Implement a display that uses space more efficiently and has better legibility from all angles
* Get rid of that archaic serial port interface and use a micro usb port instead
* Increase memory capacity
* P25 Phase II TDMA support would be nice

I wouldn't mind seeing a "sleep timer" that would shut the scanner off after a selected period of time.

THERE already is, after about 10 hours the batteries die and the scanner turns off

I travel in an area with multiple SmartZone sites. If I hear an event happening on Talk Group 1 and coming from Site A, I hold on it to hear what is going on, but the hold only works for that T G on that site. I would like to be able to hold on a T G but the scanner will move on to other sites as I travel along. The way it is now with the scanner on hold I really have no idea if and when I have moved out of range and need to start scanning again in the hopes of getting that same T G from the next site I come in range of.

Here's my *wish list* for whatever is next...

***P25 Phase II TDMA Capable (A reality only 6mos out for us in NJ)***
-NXDN Capable (Railroads WILL be switching over in 2017. Railfans are a big part of your market guys!)
-P25 Standard Non-TRS Radio ID's (Single channel trunked for this is a major pain)
-MDC ID Decode
-Ability to enable iCall in radio menu, without FreeScan
-Detachable faceplate WITH power control would be awesome for mobile ops. (BC-RH96 is bulky for this, and has no power control.)

P25 Phase II TDMA and P25 X2-TDMA are really as simple as a Firmware Update. As a loyal customer, I think it should be a big priority.

So what would you like to see??
I would like all of these things, but since my HP-1 runs all day on my office desk, I would really like to see a Keurig type coffee maker built in, so I would not have to leave the desk except to pee.

FYI: It has been stated many times by Upman (who should know) that Phase II/TDMA requires a change to the hardware as well as firmware. Really....don't you think if it could be added by just firmware that they would have done that already?

Most probably were mentioned already

1) TRBO (don't bull**** me, it's possible, the standard is open)
2) P25 both Phase II and X2 (same as above)
3) MDC decode with Alpha tagging
4) Radio IDs with Alpha tagging
5) Factory discriminator output
6) True site roaming
7) Timed lockout for nuisance channels during a major incident

All of above can be put in <$1000 scanner. It's a matter of somebody wanting to do that.

I don't know how the Unidens do it, but on my PSR-500, when I'm scanning a trunked system, I don't need to know what voice channel I'm receiving a transmission on. Make it at least an option, to put alpha-tagging in that line, in place of the frequency.
