In windows explorer, RIGHT CLICK, then a box opens. At the bottom it has a tab for PROPERTIES. Click properties and select the program you want. Hopefully you have downloaded 7 zip or some other unzipping program..Now once you set, in properies, all zip program extensions will always go to your unzippinmg program by default. As for slow, you are my speed as I am slowly moving around since having a stroke.. Right side is about 15% mobile, the right arm maybe 5% mobile. I typer with my left hand. The new DMA type scannerrs are a bear to learn but they do get easier. I have loaded and unloaded the memories maybe 50 times . When I got my 396xt, I was in the book and the web about every day for 2 months. Trunking p25 systems were hard at first. VHF p25 just came clear about 2 months ago. Had a question about digital p25 and digital one frequency p25.and then 800 frequencies mixed in. Found out that the radios are smarter than the operators so they havfe all worked out.

This is his wife...I tried to help him but neither of us can get it to work. It is alerting that the file is corrupt. We tried configuring to pdf, word and cannot get it to work. Can you email the document in word, cut and paste the document. It just won't do what we want it to.

Let's try another approach:
1. Start your ARC-XT Pro
2. Click the Internet Tab at the top and drop down to Radio Reference and click on Radio Reference. The RadioReference WebService Window should appear.
3. Enter your Radio Reference User Name and Password, then click the Connect button
4. Go to the State drop down combo box, scroll down to Maine.
5. Click the yellow Trunk Systems Button
6. Go to the Trunk Systems drop down combo box, click on Maine State Communications Network (MSCinnBet) /P25
7. Check the checkbox in the left pane beside Sites: 18
8. Check the checkbox in the right pane beside Talkgroups: 4
9. Click the green Import button (the "stuff" is now in the browser)
10. Close the RadioReference WebService Window
You should be good to go and proceed with programming (sending) this to your scanner as you have with any other system.

It appears this is a new system with only four talkgroups active, those being assigned to radio technicians. So there probably won't be much to hear.

Programming these newfangled scanners to receive newfangled radio systems can be trying to anyone regardless of fuse length. Things not going right in the beginning are "par for the course", which most of us have experienced. So give yourself permission to make mistakes because they are going to happen. I had to spend a whole day at the golf course just to learn enough bad words to help me through this process .

LIKE THE GROUP KEPT SAYING, KEEP AT IT, ITS A GOOD SCANNER, DON'T give up on yourself. We have all been there, intimadated with the radio, software, and just the whole learning curve. Now you have some working files that you can build on and with. With you antenna at 100 ft, agl, you can expand your reception greatly..You should be able to get New Hampshire and Boston, Ma. Also you are on a flight path coming back from Europe so there are airways listening, military stuff. Lately I have been scanning for military aircraft. Thru Freescan, Virtual Control, logging and then go to sleep. Let the radio listen for you, then in the morning, you have all the mp3 files that you can listen too.

There's no real harm in leaving all of the sites/frequencies "on" (or being scanned). If you are out of range, the scanner keeps on going.

You are very fortunate to have a real high antenna site allowing you to pull in distant comms. I should only be so lucky.

I been sending a lot of submissions for MSCOMMNET this week, so I recommend checking regularly to see the changes..Still a lot of bad info in there, but hopefully we will get it fixed soon..
