I monitor 3 different simulcast sytems on a daily basis. While simulcast affects reception, particularly when mobile, it would be wrong to say I am unable to hear simulcast. I hear about 80% when mobile and 95-97% at home.

If 80% copy is successful for you then you are good to go. It is not what I would call success. Hearing simulcast is a lot different that understanding the transmission.

While there is obviously significant room for improvement, getting 80% of traffic is 80% better than "not being able to hear" the system.

A Wilson 800mhz yagi did wonders for my simulcast problems. Wasn't perfect, but made it a heck of a lot better.
