Nope, just program in the new system frequencies and rock on.

Since the SC230 is not a trunking capable scanner, rebanding does not affect it.

Best to open a new thread for help with general programming questions for that scanner, so as a) not to dilute the purpose of this thread and b) not have your questions get lost in this unrelated thread.

Be sure to tell people where you are and exactly what you are wanting to do when you repost for help. The more specific your question, the better the answer you will receive.

Default BR330T Firmware Update

Very late to the game guys, sorry to drag this thread out of the mud. I have researched all over and am at whits end with this friggin radio.

Went to Uniden's site tried to upload the progressive firmware updates and have been getting the message:
"this scanner is not an object for bc. rewriting is impossible." I did the L/O + 6 while plugging in the power cord (w/out batteries) and using the USB > Serial port with the cable.

What am I missing here?

Several possibilities.

First, make sure that you downloaded & installed the new software update installer, BC_VUP v2.0.0.7. Download the zipped file, save it somewhere handy on your pc (the desktop, a download folder, any spot you know where to go find it). Then, unzip it so that you can run the setup, which is the file name with an "exe" extension. (BC_VUP_v2.0.0.7.exe).

Then, download the firmware, BR330T_V1_06_02.zip. Save this where you can find it. (You probably already did, but may want to do it again, on the remote chance the copy that downloaded the first time was corrupt.)

Now, unzip the firmware file, BR330T_V1_06_02.zip. That will give you the actual upgrade file, BR330T_V1_06_02.scn.

When you put the scanner into update mode (the L/O +6 keys), & use the update loader, you're going to point the loader to the BR330T_V1_06_02.scn file, not the zipped file. If you tried to do the update, without unzipping the firmware file first, you would get an error.

You are the (wo)man hiegtx! Thank you for pointing out an obvious mental lapse...lol I was trying to install the installer file, not the .scn file. Radio said it updated now lets hope I can figure out the rebanding part of it.

Thanks again, very helpful response!

You're welcome (definitely 'guy" here).

The custom bandplan, if you need it (apparently you may, from your answer) is at the bottom of the same page where the updates were found. I have one rebanded system, Garland, that I monitor with my 330T. Works very well. The other rebanded systems in this area (so far) either have not required the band plan or were EDACS, which only required the new frequencies to be entered.

If you're using software, as opposed to programming directly through the keyboard, see this Wiki page. You can, however, enter the bandplan, through the keyboard. (I simply used FreeScan, which was quicker.)

I had to cover myself to be EEO compliant haha

I did set up a band plan but also entered some 800mhz freqs as if it were a regular system. These freqs were said to be the CC's. I have no clue if its successfully trunking because of the band plan i entered or the 5 or 6 freqs i entered or both. None-the-less, its working so im happy.

I never used a band plan before so i have little understanding of them and their function but id like to know whatt made it work. I originally left the existing trunked freqs in the radio and it didnt work so im thinking its working with the cc only...
