Default BCD996T Fire Tone Out Firmware Question:

Hi all,

I updated to the newest firmware last week and have noticed something peculiar. If I select MENU --> FIRE TONE OUT --> TONE OUT FOR --> and then select the tone out I want (as I've always done), the scanner switches to Tone Out Standby as it's supposed to. However, I still pick up audio without the tones first coming through. (That is, the scanner is acting as if it's in Tone Out Hold instead of Tone Out Standby). Cycling through once (hitting the HOLD button twice to go from Standby to Hold and back to Standby) solves the problem and properly sets it into Tone Out Standby. Has anyone else noticed this?

Andy

ps - For reference the Tone Out I'm using is set to Infinite for hold time.

bumped... so no one has experienced an issue where they're in Tone Out Standby but the scanner still opens the squelch for all traffic on the selected frequency?

EDIT: This is on my BCT15 not my BCD996T... Too many scanners to keep track of

I haven't had any problems with my BCT15 on the Fire Tone Out. I have done all of the firmware upgrades. You may want to do the last firmware update again.

Did you check your squelch settings? Are you sure about your tone setting?

I was hoping it was that easy too but everything is fine. It's strange because it always worked fine before I updated the firmware. I should note that this happens intermittently; not all the time. I'm guessing that it must be some little quirk with my scanner since no one else is having the problem. Oh well, it's not much of an issue to press hold twice to reset it.
