Default Help - 396XTL Blinking HOLD while scanning

I'm not sure what happened, but HOLD is blinking and the radio just scans 1 bank. Anything see this before? I tried uploading the default settings in freescan and it didn't help.

I had that happen the other day. I reprogrammed (including erasing), with FreeScan, and it worked again. It happened more than once, but I'm not sure what caused it.

Thank you. That worked. Looks like maybe the first bug fix for the first firmware update. This should be a sticky or at least in the wiki if it isn't already there.

It's called system hold and it is a new feature in the 346/396XTs...
No need to totally wipe then reprogram the radio...
This is why I recommend sitting down and reading the Complete Reference guide from beginning to end because the XTs have a bunch of new features

Nope not a bug and no need for a sticky and no need to report it.
It is a feature.

It comes in handy actually. That way you don't need to turn off or lockout systems when you just want to monitor the current system only for a short time.

That actually is a nice feature. I must have passed right over that when looking through the docs. Thanks for the info.

I quickly realized how useful it was myself. Now I use it almost daily to help monitor a system without going fully stopping scanning.
Happy Monitoring!

Ahhh, thanks for pointing that out. I sure don't remember pressing hold for that long when it happened.
And, yes it is a very useful mode.
