396T firmware update problem

I just completed updating my 396T firmware to 3.02.02 from 3.01.00. I thought the whole process went smooth until I reinstalled the battries and got this message. "Registration key required, resend update with key". I did copy and pasted in the Key when requested and checked the box for major update. Did I miss a step?

You shouldnt need the key when going from 3.01.00 to 3.02.02

only when going from v2 -> v3

retry the update but DONT put in the key & DONT check the major update box

Reapply the update using the version 3 key assigned to that unit (and with the option checked).

My 396T wont update

I did the first update in which I loaded the ESN and serial number, Now that I want to update the firmware to the latest V3, It says that the scanner was already updated and I checked for the close call DND and its not on there. When I check the firmware version it says its still 1.20.13, Any help with this would be appreciated, Thanks

The only updater that will even provide that message is the ESN Checksum update that advances the scanner to 1.20.13. You need to use BC_VUP to apply the V3 update. See the complete instructions at:

thats what ive done, I deleted the bcss files and it still says its already updated
