Default BCD996T system scan speed

In Delaware (New Castle County) we have Public Safety using a Motorola P25 system with numerous groups using the same control frequencies. I use Butel's ARC996PRO software (I also use a BCD396XT set up the same way). For display purposes I made each group into a system thereby when, say DSP, dispatches the top line says 'DSP' and the bottom says 'Command Dispatch'. I know the site is 'New Castle' so it seems rather redundant for that to be displayed, hence the reason for making the separate systems. By renaming the sites and group names for each system to match the system name I see what I want...who's talking and what group!. Of course I also have a number of conventional frequencies in a few other groups. Question is... am i slowing my scanning speed by making the scanner scan through 23 systems with the same control frequencies? Here's another along the same line... When scanning a group does the scan look for activity on each frequency or actually in each trunk ID?

It looks for the talkgroups you have identified in the control channel data. If you repeat the same frequencies it will be as slow as it takes to go from system to system just as if you had a different set of frequencies as defined by your system hold time. As it finds the talkgroup, it looks it up and displays what you have it tagged in the dynamic memory very quickly.

It will take 1-1.5 seconds for each trunked site, so it will take about 30-40 seconds to scan through your 23 systems vs. 1-1.5 if they were programmed as a single site/system.

Many thanks. Certainly answered my questions. I took the afternoon off to 'clean up' the error of my ways! Boy, remember when we just went to Radio Shack and bought a crystal? Thanks again for your help.
