Default SAME alert messages

My 396XT activates with a "siren" when there is a SAME broadcast and tunes to the weather channel, but I haven't seen any specific SAME messages or events displayed i.e. Severe Thunderstorm, Flash Flood Warning, etc.
Should I be seeing this or is there no actual message or event code displayed?

SAME only works in WX Standby mode, but does display the event type. If it is being activiated from WX Priority mode, then you'll only get an alert tone.

Does it only decode the weather event codes or can it also alert for other EAS events too like 911 outage, shelter in place, volcano warning...?

All EAS events that are supported (which are most of them) are listed in the Complete Reference starting on Page 218.

UPMan, how do you configure the 396xt for weather standby mode, to be able to receive EAS messages? I can't seem to find it in the databases.
