Default 396T not receiving DIGITAL - any ideas?

Bought a 396T from here and its NOT receiving digital talkgroups.

It gets analog fine but digital it just skips by digital (yes its getting the control channel)
(doesnt stop or show the ID , no noise at all - thisis not the garbled audio issue)

Almost like a unit thats set to ANALOG only

I have..

reset the scanner
re-programed the scanner (by hand and by software)
updated to the newest firmware
played with the digital settings
hooked up a better antenna
ran it beside another 396T that is picking up digital just fine

Ive owned 5 of these units in the past and never had a problem with the digital

any other ideas???

Are you SURE you have the correct type of system programmed?

Default Another idea...

Kris-

Try cloning the misbehaving 396T with the scanner that you used as a benchmark... maybe that will clear up the problem.

Good luck,

Dump the contents of the problem scanner - let's see what the programming looks like...73 Mike

There's only one way to really find out - peer review. I do programming for a living, and I know from 20 years in the field that sometimes you can't see the forest from the trees. Been there done that. Had it happen many times myself

Re your problem -- first thing that comes to mind are quick keys. Active and enabled for these digital systems?

Make sure that the P25 MAN setting hasn't been set to an extreme value (like 0).

Are you listening to a re-banded system? If so have you entered the rebanding table.

I had a similar issue on a 396t I had just bought 2nd hand. Picked up analog and trunked fine (i have no digital trunks nearby so I couldn't test that), but no audio at all on any p25 even though it stopped on the channel and showed signal. After futzing for a couple days, I sent it in for repair and they replaced what looked like a resistor, and it worked when i got it back.

I will try that, and if nothing then off to Uniden repair.
Possibly the same issue that "epersson" had got fixed (thanks for posting)

This is the only 396T I ever had a major issue with, so been a pretty good run looking at how many I have owned..

And this is a 2005 unit, so had its use for 4 years, so I cant complain.

thanks for all the reply's

i have had that problem before. Tried everything then sent it to Lectron in Peterborough. Turned out to be the DSP chip got wiped out. Probly from a power spike they said. Try to decode a PL tone (same chip) . It costed 30 bux and came back fast.
