Post 396XT: Did firmware upgrade improve digital quality?

I updated my 396XT from 1.04 to 1.07 a few days ago. It seems as if I can here the Marin County MERA system clearer now.

MERA has previously sounded pretty garbled (From my home across the bay and while driving through Marin County) even though the signal has been 4 or 5 bars. Now for some reason I can understand the speech better.

Did any of the firmware updates change the way the digital audio is precessed or change the parameters or algorithms in any way?

It seems clearer. But it might just be the placebo affect.

Thanks,
Dave
