Digital transmissions should show up as P25 - analog will not have an indicator. Hope this helps.

396T
does not have 2 modes like the 996t.
When a digital transmission takes place, you will see 'LNK, P25, or ENC' show up in the lower right below the ID or Tag, which ever you have it showing you.
You will see "DATA" is the control channel is a pure P25 system
"LNK" is telling you that the scanner is detecting a digital transmission.
"P25" will show up when it detects a P25 signal and begins to decode it.
"ENC" show up if that transmission is Encoded, the audio will also mute so you don't have to hear the encryption which is annoying.
