Default 396T, analog and digital ?

I am monitoring a Motorola Type II Smartnet system that is analog right now. Some time soon
they are going digital. I know the 396T will do both. What I want to know is when a TalkGroup goes
active and shows up on the screen of the scanner is there some setting to make it show up if that TG
is analog or digital.

I have the 996T & if it works the same as 396T, there are 2 display modes available by pressing hold while monitoring your system followed by the function (F) button and (0). The display will toggle between "MODE 1" & "MODE 2". Mode 1 indicates DATA, LINK, P25, & ENC on digital systems to right of freq. MODE 2 indicates Fleet ID# in same location. Digital transmissions should show up as P25 - analog will not have an indicator. Hope this helps.

396T does not have 2 modes like the 996t.
When a digital transmission takes place, you will see 'LNK, P25, or ENC' show up in the lower right below the ID or Tag, which ever you have it showing you.
You will see "DATA" is the control channel is a pure P25 system
"LNK" is telling you that the scanner is detecting a digital transmission.
"P25" will show up when it detects a P25 signal and begins to decode it.
"ENC" show up if that transmission is Encoded, the audio will also mute so you don't have to hear the encryption which is annoying.

He's asking about the 396T, there is no mode selection capability.
