My guess is Uniden will issue a direction page like this for the 330, probably even be the same, except for the file names:

BR330TFirmwareUpdate < UnidenMan4 < TWiki

which will outline what to do and how to do it for the 996XT as well, when the firmware update comes out.

Anybody care to speculate on what other features/fixes might be included?

Sure wish they would let you have comments so when I transfer from the scanner to a file after making some changes they don't get wiped out in my file. I won't mind it even if they dropped from 25k freq down to 20k to make room...like I am ever going to have anywhere near that many freqs.

I really hate to speculate on what "might" be in an update, because people tend to grab the ideas and run away with them like they're gospel.

Look at what "other" fixes were in some earlier updates. My guess is a lot of it will be mundane minor fixes and etc.

Anything with the word "intelligent" in it is already excluded if you are asking human beings.

Don't give up hope yet...who knows what might happen down the road...however since you have several other options (including a free software option) I would not worry too much about UASD.

We really need USAD software. USAD lets you save individual systems into individual files. Freescan just saves the whole memory as one file.

If you want to share with a friend one TRS system lets say, Freescan won't do that.

As for backing up existing firmware, there are ways of dumping existing firmware from a 396T or XT. One way to dump the f/w:

(DELETED by XTS3000) - figure it out yourself - I give up on this site once and for all - screw it, not wasting any more time.

Gee, I wonder if this post will get deleted like the other post made here.............

I give up! Wasting my time responding (sticking to the rules) only to have it deleted once again without any explaination. WTF.
Try to share information, but can not here.

DONE AND GONE FROM THIS PLACE - Bye

Why can't you load up your freescan file, then just delete the systems you dont need to share, then save it under a new name and give it to your friend?

I was wondering exactly the same thing. I do it all the time. The only thing that USAD ever had over FreeScan was a visually better looking virtual display. For pure programming; FreeScan is as good and user friendly as anyone could ask for in a freeware program.

I came here tonight I see about the firmware and all that's here is a bunch of bitching and groaning and way off topic.

So, does anyone have a release date yet? No, I didn't read though all the other posts for this info since it was mostly useless anyway.

Sometime in the next week or so, from reading the original post. Here's a hint I found useful on threads like this. Look for posts from "UPMAN", since he's the Uniden Product Manager for these scanners. He has the best information and doesn't get side tracked.
