Default Interference when scanning

I have a Uniden BC340CRS scanner. My scanner stops on alot of channels w/interference. I try to squelch it out, but it does not help. I have moved my scanner in different rooms in my house, still does not help. I installed an outdoor antenna, still the same problems. I notice it does alot more interference when my Dish Receiver & TV are on. Any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks for listening.

It's a little drastic but you could turn off the breakers to the house. Turn them off one at a time and see if the interferece stops. Once you isolate the breaker, you can start work on everything plugged into that circuit If you turn off all breakers to the house and the interference persists then it might be a neighbor. I have heard several stories about plasma TV at neighbors houses causing interference. .

You didn't mention how many channels but I try this when I have interference problems. Try the next frequency up or down and see if the interference goes away. It is usually not off far enough to interfere with reception. It will not always work and it would be a bit difficult for trunking frequencies I would imagine. I do it usually with aviation freq's and it works most of the time. Otherwise a very difficult problem to solve.
