Default BCT15 Problem

I jump over 1 hurdle and now have another hurdle to get over.

Out of nowhere, the scanner display lights up but displays nothing when powering on. I pulled the radio apart (again) to re-seat the ribbon cable. I try to turn the scanner back on, nothing. I play with the ribbon again, I finally get the pop sound from the speaker but no display. Play with the cable a little longer and finally get something on the display "All Memory Clear, Please Wait..." than nothing. The backlight fails to go on when this happens.

Do I need to send this in for repair or what? I am getting pretty frustrated with this scanner lately and it seems that I'm having to open it up far too often. Any help?

I believe that Uniden has a flat fee for fixing scanners call their parts department to inquire.

I expect that you have tried some "Holy Water", AKA Contact Cleaner, over and above trying to re-seat. How about any chance of getting your hands on a product we use in Aviation that cleans like contact cleaner and also protects the contacts. I can't remember the name exactly but it is something like Stabil-ite. It is used in hot, oily, harsh conditions to keep huge connectors with hundreds of tiny contacts performing properly.

Thanks for the response david. Where could one purchase these products?

I do not want to send it in if I don't have to so I'll try exhausting more options.
