Arrow HomePatrol Decoding AIS Data for Vessels/Ships Displaying - Feature REQUEST

HomePatrol Decoding AIS Data for Vessels/Ships Displaying - Feature REQUEST

What would it take to make HomePatrol show AIS data.
Displaying the vessels/ships names,Speed,Course, etc on the HomePatrol screen.

HomePatrol Firmware V2.2 ? V3.0 ?

* Using HomePatrol from the cruise ship cabin and receiving AIS data.
* Using HomePatrol along the coastal / large river areas.
* Using HomePatrol to watch for flying Search and Rescue Helicopters / Aircraft equipped with AIS Transponders.
* Using HomePatrol third-party software 'Virtual Control' screen. It would display more AIS data on the screen.

Raw Data Output – outputs raw binary data based on the received signal and data slicing parameters you set.
The serial mode will be used for audio streaming, raw data output, and serial control modes. Upon release, software to use these functions is not available, however the protocols have been provided to 3rd‐party software authors for development.
[Add a link to the third-party software. If it works with HomePatrol decoding AIS Data]

This what it could look like

It's not going to happen on the HP1. No matter how many smilies you stick in there.

Maybe not IN the HP1 itself, but certainly someone could write a third-party app to use the Raw Data Output to capture this.

I'm waiting for more complete specifications. For example;

There's a checksum value included with each message. Is it ASCII (eg. two decimal digits or two bytes)?

The discriminator audio is a stream of 10 bit samples but at what sample rate?

Paul has sent a request to engineering. We're just waiting.

Excellent response Rdale, I'm still laughing!

Few things are as endearing as a man who can poke fun at himself.

Im sure its possible and a third party plug in system in the home patrol could be investigated as a further option for future firmware/models...

combined with on board maps .... there are possibilities if not in current generation hardware maybe future ones

Cheers
