No, it's OK you did not waste your money. Gommert is still working on ARCPatrol software. Uniden released their Extreme Upgrade and Gommert did not have alot of time to get the Extreme update for ARCPatrol software complete from what I gather. You are aware that you have to pay for the Extreme Upgrade though Uniden. It does not come standard on the radio. The ARCPatrol software you download should be the latest release for the extreme upgrade. I felt the same way you did but you have to be patient.

Ok, Thank you very much. I don't even have the system yet. I am hoping that it will arrive sometime this week. What is the difference between the HP1 and the extreme? I have looked around on the internet, but can't find anything that says what the difference is.

The Extreme upgrade has more features and advanced features. Go to HomePatrol read down the left side of the web page. You can download the Sentinel V2 (version 2) update (some of the features may not be available on this software until you purchase the Extreme upgrade). You can also download the HomePatrol-1 V2 Owners manual and HomePatrol Extreme Owners manual. I think you will have to load the first version of Sentinel before you do the update, not sure. Either way you will need Sentinel for data base updates and firmware updates for HP-1

If you got the HP-1 with the updated firmware (Free & Extreme) and you get the ARCPatrol software, then you did not throw away your money (at least IMHO). I have 2 Home Patrols, both with extreme upgrades, and I love them. More so with the extra features in the extreme upgrade.

I am sure that Uniden will address the firmware issues, just not sure how long that will take. When they do, I am also sure that Gommert will release an update to the ARCPatrol software. One of the nice things about Butel is that they have never charged for updates or upgrades to software that you have purchased. I speak from experience as an ARC250Pro, ARC396Pro, ARC996Pro and ARCPatrol owner. Every time Uniden has mae a change to one of these radios, Butel has released an update that covers it.

The only feature that the radio cannot have is the ability to decode the current phase 2 TDMA of P25 as used in several of my localities in MD and VA. For that, only a PSR 800 will work.

I'm not sure which version of firmware it is coming with. I ordered it from Scan Master and it is scheduled to arrive this Friday.

One question I have is whether this unit can be manually programmed? There are several channels that I monitor that are not listed on the RR database.

You can program using the latest version of Sentinel or Butel's software. If you purchase the Extreme Upgrade, you can also front-panel program new channels.
