Default BC125at driver not installing/ COM port issues

Driver will not install on my HP pavilion laptop or my desktop. Running windows 7 on laptop and XP on desktop. Also on the spread sheet can't read or write from scanner I get the 'COM port not selected'. Any help?

I have tried to call Uniden tech support but they will not return my phone calls or e-mails.

What are you guys talking about? Seriously.

from this website:
BC125AT < UnidenMan4 < TWiki

"USB Drivers
To download USB drivers for your BC125AT, right click and save to your local PC: BC125AT_USB_driver.zip
To install the drivers, unzip the file. Then, plug your BC125AT into your PC. When prompted, point the installer to the files you unzipped."

If you plugged in the scanner before having the driver ready to point the hardware wizard at, then go to the windows device manager and straighten it out by selecting uninstall for whatever the scanner showed up as when you plugged it in. Then Re-plug in the scanner and point the hardware wizard at the appropriate inf. You have to unzip the zip file to the hard drive in order for the hardware wizard to be able to find the inf drivers. Double clicking on the file does not count as unzipping, it allows you to look inside but does not allow the operating system to look inside. You would need to right click on the zip file and select extract or extract all, and point it to your desktop or something that won't be hard for you to find.

Wink FINALLY

I was on the SCANNER MASTER site and found Scanner Master Blog with a step by step installation of new firmware in the BC125AT by Jonathan Higgins. I tried it and it WORKED. I found it by accident and wish it had been mentioned on RadioReference. It would have saved a lot of time and frustration.
THANK YOU JONATHAN HIGGINS.
