Default Remote Heag disconnecting

I had a BC-RH96 remote head laying around and decided to put it in my vehicle. I attached my BCD396XT to it and the RH96 will will keep connecting and unconnecting. After some trouble shooting I found it only does this while scanning, with the antenna connected. I have an external antenna that I use with the Home patrol and never had a problem with the antenna. I hooked up the rubber duckie antenna, as soon as I do it will disconnect from the remote head. If I am in the menu mode, it will stay connected. It seems to only disconnect while scanning with an antenna connected. I hooked in a BC346XT with the external antenna and it connects to the remote head with no problem. I also tried changing the baud settings, no change. Any ideas what is going on?

Look at your settings and make sure the control channel output isn't on extended. That would cause that to happen

Wow! I would never have thought of that, but does make sense. It was turned on. Turned it off and works. Thanks a lot for the help.
