Default BCT15 poor receive

The reception on my BCT15 has degraded considerably. I have a dipole scanner antenna on the roof brought right to the radio with RG6X. When I plug in my PRO-106 it receives fine. The BCT15 hardly breaks squelch.
What should I start looking at?

There are many variables to consider when diagnosing a problem with a scanner. Is it a certain channel that recieves poorly or all? We've basically eliminated the issue as being the antenna, so now we move to the scanner itself. Does it recieve the same on a different antenna? If so, it could be the BNC connector went bad. That requires opening the scanner to verify the connection to the circuit board is tight and not damaged. Going further than that requires "surgery" on the scanner. If you have the equipment to do it yourself, you COULD fix it. Otherwise, you would likely need to send it in to get repaired. Whether or not Uniden does that, I don't know as I have never had an issue like this. Another thing to consider is it may likely not be under warranty, so you may need to solicit the services of an outside repair shop.

Just to clarify on the last post, Uniden does still do the exchange where you pay I believe it is $75, can't remember if that includes shipping or not, and they will fix whatever is wrong with your scanner. It will cover parts and labor. Almost had to do that with my 15 because I bought it used and it did some freakish things when I first had it. All is well now, try calling Uniden and seeing if they can set something up for you if it comes down to it.
Best regards,
Heather

Make sure you don't have the Attenuator enabled and that the Squelch is not set too high.
