Default UID #s for the BCD996XT

Hi All ...

I hope I'm in the right Thread???

It's been awhile since I used the Unit Ids (UID) with my BCD996XT radio and was wondering if it's part of the scanner or part of the Butel Software.
I found the SETTINGS--DISP UNIT ID buttons and have turned it ON

I recall something about a file with ID#s and TAGS ???

So if someone could refresh my mind as to how it works or can pass along a link to read it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Radio IDs are part of the scanner, they can be programmed through software. Easier to Read BCD996XT Digital Scanner Manual

Default UID #s for 996XT

Hi Mike ... thanks for the reply.

I looked at the link you sent ...
I can turn the IDs on so I can see them on the display.

However what I am trying to do is link the UID to a TAG
iex i40136= Engine 32
I believe I have to make a list with the unit IDs with their corresponding TAG Names but I forget how to do that.
So I'm not sure if it's in the scanner or the Butel Software when I run the Virtual Control

Thanks

You need to enter the IDs just like you do a talkgroup, just begin it with i (i12345) or if doing it on the scanner use the .No key. Set up a group that will just be for these IDs and don't assign a quick key to it. When you set up the IDs you can alpha tag them so the alpha tag displays instead of the numbers. If you don't enter the IDs they will still show up as just the numbers as they do now. For example, if the PD dispatch is RID 123, enter i123 and alpha tag it as PD DISPATCH. Now when the PD talks the scanner will show PD DISPATCH instead of i123.

Mike is 100% correct
Here is how the "ixxxxx" RID display looks like
as seen in Freescan:

I believe Butel software should look very similar.

Thanks for jumping in Marshall ...

I think I've got it to work ...
On my Butel software I put the i1302 in the Talkgroup column and Engine 2 in the Alpha Tag Column?

But that open up another question:
I have limited myself (for programming purposes) to the FIRE System, which uses multiple Sites.
Under the FIRE System I have a number of Groups ... one of which is the UID Group)
When I'm scanning I get the new UID (ENGINE 1) on some of the TX while on others I get nothing.
Would that be because it's picking up the TX late ... or is there something else I should be looking at?

Nothing unusual there
Remember that when there are no comms being received the scanner is monitoring/listening to the control channel...it receives the UID info off that same control channel but there will be times when that info is not available...from the original 396XT firmware update page (which also applies to the 996XT):

Quote:
Notes:
--In some cases where you catch a transmission already in progress you will not see the Unit ID.

--In some cases where a second party responds to a transmission before the channel is released, you will not see the second party's Unit ID and will continue to see the first party's Unit ID.
Even my city issued $4000 Moto XTS 5000 does not receive all RIDs for all transmissions.
But when I put my Moto and my 396XT/996XT head to head they both match up so the Unidens are at least as good as my "official" city radio.
Hope this helps!
