Nothing to be sorry about lol. I was wondering if more people were going to comment on it. I do hope the update makes more improvement on the larger simulcast systems.

I was happy with my reception prior to rebanding of the CT State police. After rebanding, the signals are crap. Since some frequencies are better than others and the PRO197s I have are no better, I am not convinced that there is much that Uniden will be able to do. I think it is just a poor job by the radio techs who synchronized the signals.

When I was in Overland Park KS, the Jackson County simulcast system came in loud and clear while the Johnson County simulcast was terrible. Maybe they will be able to get something done with this update.

If Uniden, indeed, has a new product up its sleeve, and the reports from the street indicates that simulcast distortion is much imporved --- or even it it is a firmware update to an existing model to achieve the same ---- count me in as a new customer (currently own PSR500).

I experience the same SD as everyone else. I like the PSR500... but, if Uniden comes up with a better product ref the distortion issue, then, count me in.

Wasn't this attempted already? Firmware 1.06.00...

Well, UPMan's avatar has just changed today, and to me, it looks like it has something to do with towers and multipath. Hmm... I wonder how he knows so much

If it is a firmware update now the big question is, XT series or HP1?

Ya, good work fxdscon, drag and drop google image search is our friend.

Production of Electromagnetic Waves
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interfe...e_propagation)

So after a little reading, I know a little more about the production of electromagnetic waves, and a refresher on all of the interference and wave propagation concepts.

Can't wait to hear from the new update. Let's hope it makes use of the constructive interference and rejects any and all destructive interference that impacts our reception of simulcast systems.

I'd love to be optimistic about this firmware update, but it'll be supporting the same old consumer grade hardware. I hope I am wrong!

There is no such thing as a "HomePatrol 2".
