All of a sudden the unit will not scan or receive. Took two batteries out and still same. Any help would be great.

Why are you taking batteries out?, for one

Took the batteries out to try and maybe reset unit (like a hard boot). I did this just to try something.The unit just would sit there and have no antenna action and was unable to change to any other favorites or scan any other channels. I then decided to hook up to computer and try a update. After doing this unit started to perform again. I would love to know what happened to it and why it was stuck (so to speak) Thank you for your response and time.
