They are different scanners, which use different firmware, thereby requiring different updates. The firmware/updates have never been interchangeable.

The 396XT being more popular, is probably why they chose it first. (Then suddenly the update was released for the Homee Patrol 1).

I am sure the 996XT update will not be far behind. I am anxious too

Ah ok. I was thinking they used interchangeable firmware updates. I'll be patiently awaiting the 996XT update whenever the fine folks at Uniden decide to release it. BTW, thanks Paul for keeping us updated!

Default 396t vs 396xt on lsm

[QUOTE=ka3jjz;1883148]Don't jump to conclusions. The 'garble' on some digital systems happens with non-LSM modulation, too

I hear garble on a 2 tower C4FM motorola system, if you are in a spot with equal signals from both towers.
My old 396T works better on the LSM or Cqpsk systems than the 396xt.
If I run the 396xt on the LSM system for awhile it gradually improves its reception for that system, as if it is tweaking some parameters. I only get clean decode when I'm near one tower and not when between 2 of them.
I manually do the p25 decode adjustment on the 396T and that may be why it works better, the 396xt has changed how that is adjusted to a hidden menu.

I just loaded v1.10.00 into the 396xt's I have.
Will look for the v1.11 to show up.

Does the link below have a list of what the firmware will address? I tried visiting the page, but it won't load for me:

Thank MtnBiker, but it wasn't loading at the time the post was made. Your statement that we "just need to wait" was a little off target I left the browser attempting to load the page for several minutes.

It's all a moot point now though, as the page is loading now.

Thanks

Extremely slow (or frequently unsuccessful) page loading /= "loading just fine"

Uniden really needs to upgrade its web infrastructure to reflect a broadband world.

Just saying...

Agree 100%.

That sight actually was down for some time last night from my location as well, even after 5-6 minutes it would not load. It finally came back with a "server not available" or some such error message.

BUT, even at it's best on a really good day, the info.uniden twiki site is agonizingly slow.... bordering on "not worth using" !!

It's been that way since it first came on line.

.

How do you find out if the site your monitoring is running in Linear Simulcast Mode (LSM)?

If it is specified in the RRDB as simulcast.

Not all simulcast systems use LSM, so there is no correlation between what we name a site in the database and what modulation a system actually uses.

LSM = Linear Simulcast Modulation, not Mode.
