Default HomePatrol and Johnson Co, KS MOSWIN

Anyone using one who is a bit far out from the system? I am in Franklin County, KS and this thing is deaf as hell. I bought it because of the recent firmware upgrade for simulcast but it's literally silent. My PSR800 at least tries to do something. I can see the signal bars on the PSR800 flicker and hear a bit of garbled audio but the HomePatrol doesn't even know the system is there. If I go into the advanced menu the Johnson County Simulcast is grey so it's "within range". The system analyzer, system load screen shows one red line and it never moves.

I'm starting to wonder if this thing is juste deaf at 800. I can hear some KCISCS stuff but not a whole lot so far.

I meant MAARS not MOSWIN

You pretty much have to be in the County to hear anything. I messed with a HP up north of the river and couldn't get anything from JOCO or Independence. It's hit or miss with the 396/996XT models.

Nope. Just a handful of talkgroups (mostly law enforcement tac stuff). All routine dispatch traffic is clear.

This thing is deaf when it comes to this system. The 800 is trying but the Patrol is silent. I will dig out the 5 ft long 700 MHz yagi again and give it one more try. Otherwise it might be going back.

You should drive into Johnson county and see if it sounds good there. I want to know if it made an improvement on the JoCo simulcast. With my 396XT on JoCo, it was terrible but you could understand some traffic. Jackson county sounded great, however. Both are rather large simulcast 'systems'. I have a video on youtube of the Jackson county simulcast side of things.
