Default Some of my GRP displayed as * and - (Uniden BCD396T)

I’ve been using FreeSCAN to program my 396T and still figuring it out.

Within one of my Systems, I assigned each Group a Quick Key (groups 0-9). But when monitoring the one system in question, the scanner display shows:

GRP 1 2 3 - * 6 * * * -

Of course I’m not getting activity from the non-numerals.

The Asterisks show Quick Keys that have been turned off. Check the system screen in Free Scan. At the bottom, you may see some groups not "Checked", You could change and reload or

To toggle Group quick keys on or off while scanning the system, quickly press Func then press the number key assigned to the group.
To toggle Group quick keys on or off in another system press and hold Func to 'lock' Function mode. Scroll to the (enabled) system that contains the (enabled) group you want to turn on/off then press the corresponding number key(s). Press Func twice to 'unlock' Function mode and resume.

Thanks Clint for replying to my post.

I failed to mention in my original post that the system I’m having the issue with is a Trunked system if that makes a difference.

All the TGID Group Quick Keys are all enabled (checked) in FreeSCAN. I used the Func key on the scanner and when pressing the QK’s that are * and -, the scanner only beeps.

Here is a screen shot if that helps:

The scanner beeping when you hit Group Quick Keys 4 and 0 makes sense since you have not GQK's assigned to those. You have System Quick Key assigned to 4, and nothing assigned to 0.

The 5, 7, 8, and 9 should toggle on and off though if you press FUNC then the number, if you are currently scanning or holding on that system. At least I don't see anything else right off form that screen shot.

Is there any chance you have all the TG ID's locked out in those * Groups that don't seem to want to toggle for you?
