Default WIN8 and HomePatrol Serial Drivers

I recently upgraded my WIN7 machine that I used to program my scanners with to Windows 8 Pro.

I used this machine to do the recent HomePatrol firmware update. No problems.

I started up ARC Patrol and noticed that the Virtual Control did not see a COM port. No problem I thought, I'll reinstall the serial drivers.

When you follow the Extreme manual instructions for the installation WIN8 tells you there was a problem installing the drivers because the drivers are not signed. Oh Kay.....

Does anyone know of a work around for this besides putting WIN7 in a VM? Will that even work if WIN8 is the host?

Or does anyone know if Uniden has plans to sign and reissue the serial drivers?

Thanks.
Frank

It takes a few steps to reboot into a mode where you can install unsigned drivers. Nothing complex or harmful. Do a google search on unsigned drivers win8 and you'll find directions.

I always do that backwards. Post a question then google instead of google then post....

Thanks for the quick reply rdale.

If anyone else needs this, it worked great.
