Then when you surf around the scanners to Digital Scanners & Police Scanners: Radios | RadioShack.com

It shows the same scanner for $599.00 out of stock.

What is WRONG with them?

Way to go! I'm very tempted, but all I found was ship-to-store. Thanks for posting that.

Default $399 Still in stock too

Uniden BCD396XT Compact APCO 25 Handheld Scanner : Scanners | RadioShack.com

I'm sure it's not the lowest price ever, but still - $399 is pretty good for someone looking to save a buck.

Default BC 396 xt

all my local dayton area had were demos and I ordered new and it shipped free with a fifty dollar purchase. Why not get a new instead of a refurb from Uniden, all I paid was sales tax so at least Im supporting somewhat the State of Ohio

$399 is a decent new price. Too bad there isn't enough demand to bring digital scanner prices down. I know digital scanners are more expensive to design, build, and support than analog - but if they could sell them for $250 or less then they'd sell a lot more. I can't justify buying digital scanners new, so I buy them used. I've gotten a BCD396XT for $230, a 996XT for $225, and a 996T for $166. All were like new, not a thing wrong with them. Problem is that when I get a good deal, I can't resist turning them around for a profit so I can get some other toy.

I would have to agree with you 100% I'm still looking for coupon to go with the on sale item...every promo code I put in is rejected!

Another reason not to deal with Radio Shack - they put an item on sale, and tell you the sale price is valid until January 24th. Then they extend the sale to Feb 2nd, but raise the price 20 bucks, a week or so before the 24th. Unreal.

Shoot them down by taking that ad in with you for them to see! I did this for a different item after they jacked up the price and I still got it for the sale price. They weren't even aware of the sale price!
