Uniden Repair Center Issues Still Exist!
I don't like bad mouthing Uniden especially since I own 4 of their scanners. However I have a frustrating issue with their repair department that just keeps mounting. I sent in my 396XT for repair over a week ago. Having read the numerous issues with them, I sent the radio via USPS with delivery confirmation and signature required. I know they have the radio because I have an email confirmation from the postal service with the persons' name who signed for it. They received it exactly a week ago today. I know they have to at least be looking at it because they took out the funds from my account so it is in somebodys' hands. When I enter the information from the repair order slip, I keep getting the same response which is no information found. I have tried this using all the different possible options ( phone #, zip code, SRO #, serial #) with the same negative results. This is no way to do business. If you take my money, then you owe me some kind of explanation with regards to status. I am patient, I do not expect it to be fixed and returned right away, asap. I understand repairs take time. But my frustration is with the lack of information. I am not the first person to experience this either from what I have read so there is no excuse for these types of issues to still exist. I judge a company not just by their products but also by their customer service care quality when something goes wrong. So far, the grade is not a good one for Uniden!

You need to the Uniden repair department 1-800-554-3988 and ask to speak to a supervisor of scanner repair.

The reason it is not appearing in Uniden's repair database is because they haven't opened the package yet. Give them a few days to actually open the package and put the info in the database. It will show delivered in USPS far before it is able to be seen on Uniden. Nothing wrong here that I can see. Just be patient.

He can call the 1-800-554-3988 and ask for a Supervisor over scanner repair. I have called on my scanners when in the same position that N1SQB is in now..Sometimes you have to take charge on your own to find out what is going on.I have been dealing with Uniden for a long time as a user and a customer of Uniden products. If you do not get a answer in a couple of days call them. You paid for a repair and as a customer you should have your question answered in a quick and timely manner with no delay.Keep on them.If they tell you that they will call you back which they will( not ) Call them everday until you get a answer.

"F" Rating so far for Uniden customer repair center!
Well, I called the number as was suggested. I waited nearly 3/4 of an hour to be told, "our repair status webpage is down right now and we can't help you until it comes back up" A supervisor request would have been pointless at that point. The man told me that I could try back later or preferably tomorrow. How hard is it, in this age of advanced technology, to put a simple "webpage is down at this time" anouncement on the status page? I have been wrecking my brain thinking I was doing something wrong. The guy could not verify that the scanner was even there. When I told him about my email signature confirmation from the post office, he said " well then, it's got to be here someplace then, I just can't tell you where". This is totally unacceptable as an answer to a customer. I'm getting a little hot under the collar so I will just sit back and relax and try again tomorrow.

Others here have been through the same thing with Uniden repair, you might as well try to relax, one day at a time. Sit back, put your feet up, turn up the volumn and listen: I'm sure it will all work out!

Never had issues with Uniden repair. I've sent several scanners into them and I've always had them in a few weeks good as new. They've always replaced things I didn't ask for like scratched face plates and worn keys. Great deal for a flat rate out of warranty repair in my opinion... but don't expect play-by-play updates. Just be patient.
Perhaps if they charged more they could afford a better tracking system or hire more techs to process repairs faster, but then customers would still complain.

I finally got to log in and see the status of my scanner, it was a problem on their end with their site. It is scheduled to be shipped back to me on the 31st of January. I'm over it! Just hope I don't have any further issues with it.

N1SQB Manny, If this happens again to you and I hope it does not you can call the Uniden Parts and Repair Center direct at 1-800-554-3988 and ask to speak to a supervisor of repair. As tampabaynews posted that he has not had any problems with Uniden. Let me be the second one to back his post up. If you have a problem call Uniden direct and you will get you problems taken care over the phone.

Hi Manny: I've read this thread with interest because I sent my 396T in for repair about the same time you did (I think) and didn't get any message from Uniden that it was received. So, like you, I got concerned why I hadn't gotten any communication, and began to worry. I sent mine out UPS on the 2nd of January and UPS tracking showed they delivered it on the 7th. So then I started going to the Uniden Repair Status site to see if anything showed up, and of course, NO.
It wasn't until two days ago that the Repair Status page finally showed some activity and informed that the unit was received and showed be returned to me around the 28th. So, I am waiting just as you are.
I hope that we are both happy and satisfied with the results, so be sure to let us all know when you get yours back and I'll do the same.
Good Luck!
Russell

Yes Rdale I have read the thread,Have You? No one has offered to help Manny and I have delt with Uniden on the same issues that manny is going thru at the current time. The part about being on hold for 3/4's of a hour is not acceptable to my standards. If this happens I also have a DRIECT number for Uniden that will get action right away.

My 396xt arrived at Uniden on Dec 24. It did not show up on the website until Dec 31. That is the day they showed it as arriving. I wasn't too happy with that but I understood that it was during the holidays. I saw no updates until Jan 10. They shipped it out the following day and it arrived at my house 5 days later. The original problem was that the screen did not display any characters. They fixed that and changed out the keypad and display glass without me asking. I am very pleasantly surprised and happy with the results.
Moral of the story: sometimes the results are worth the wait.

You say you were trying to help him, and no one else has?? You gave him the same phone number that everyone else has, direct from the "contact us" info at the Uniden web site.
Now, all of a sudden, you have a "special" number that you alone are privy to? Why didn't you give that one out to begin with if you could really have provided a better solution to his problem??
Do you really think we believe that you have a "professional" connection to Uniden?
Think again Tim... it's getting pretty old by now.

I had Paul's Cell Phone number for awhile too, but I lost it in a pile of papers. The last time I dialed him up, he said, "If this IS who I think it IS, please lose this number and don't ever call me here again!" At least that's what I recall.
I assume that's the number he was alluding to.

Thanks! They received mine on the 7th in the early morning according to the postal service. It is listed on their site as having arrived on the 10th. That's not what bothers me. I don't expect super speedy service, that is unrealistic. It did not even bother me that their webpage was down, that happens. But to not do something as simple as posting a message or notification about their page issues on their site to let customers know, THAT bugs me, to have to wait 3/4 hour on the phone to find this out, THAT bugs me. To keep customers in the dark especially after you have taken their money, is just wrong. What makes it worse is that this is NOT a first for Uniden. After my problem, I discovered quite a few posts about their customer service or lack there of. So either they don't care or it's just not a big enough problem for them to do something about. In other words, it has not affected their sales.

I'm happy for you. Glad it all worked for the best. As I posted earlier, I was finally able to get the status of the radio and now I'm just gonna wait and see where we go from here!

Some of us have a phone number and not" Paul's cell phone and I have no need for it" fxdscon and doctordialtone.I do not give out this number and if I have a problem I will call and get RESULTS. Some of us have contacts and when something like this occurs I make a call. Nice to know people when things need to be taken care of ASAP when I have a question, repair of a item, or to order parts".Moral of the story: Make a telephone call to get the matter resolved in quick and timely manner." Thank You, Respectfully Submitted.
