Default Wheres the love for the 996XT?

The last time there were Firmware updated, both the 996XT AND 396XT received them. As far as I can tell, this problem with simulcast systems effects both scanners.. Where is the 996XT Update?

He has mentioned several times it's coming, so I would obviously expect to to be released soon when its "ready". As a 996XT owner myself, I'm ready for the update, but I have a proper yagi antenna setup so I get 100% decoding on the simulcast system I scan (even better than the county radios many times)!

They dont both come out at the same time... You ever notice that this is 1.11.01 for the 396xt. Yet the 996xt's current version is 1.06.00.
Give it time..

Ya think?

Mr. UPMan has maintained all along - updates will be announced if and when they're ready for release.

I suspect that you'll be directed toward the "Sticky" in this Uniden forum. Who knows?

I know, I know - I own 996XT and I'd look forward to a potential update too. There is so much hype - like a bunch of people waiting in line for 3 days on Black Friday, but honestly from what I have read, the "11" update for the 396XT only helped some - not all owners. I did not do the update because it works great now.

And, I'm rather happy with the way my 996XT is working now and I have no complaints. I got what I paid for. It's a great radio.

Please don't miss too much work waiting out there in your tents,,,, but have fun waiting.

Take care, guys.

I wouldn't. Those of us familiar with how Paul operates know he won't comment on the subject until (if) an update is ready to be released. Keep reading...

Paul has said no such thing. He has not addressed anything regarding the same firmware being issued for the 996XT, in fact he has made it a point to ignore every question asked about whether the 996XT will receive the same update as the 396XT.

You can speculate and assume all you want, but the fact is that Paul has been completely silent on whether or not the 996XT will receive the same update. The last time he even mentioned "BCD996XT" in a post was back in November.

Could it be they're retuning it so as mentioned in the other thread that the firmware would be down-loadable for issues about having the radios installed in vehicles, etc.?

Another week and more passes nothing? 396XT update was announced on January 7, here it is 3 weeks later.

I know when there was a delay for the 396xt, upman stated was that the installer needed more work is all, Following Monday it was available.

I know about uniden not wanting to release info on new things, but this is nown and for awhile too.
996Xt has nothing, no news, no updates? Whats up? Whats going on?

We ain't getting any updates. What ever gave you the idea that the 996XT would be updated. Uniden doesn't care about their customers ! They have your money in their pocket. That is what Uniden cares about !

Seriously, right? I mean, it's not as if their Senior Product Manager has over 6,500 posts on this forum, plus countless more on the HP-1 forum and in various Yahoo groups, right? And it's not as if they've released firmware twice in the past year to address P25 issues with various models, including the 996XT, right? Heartless, money grubbing bastards!

Myself, I think you won't see an upgrade for the 996XT right now, I believe you'll see another upgrade for the 396XT first. It looks like they may tweek that upgrade first, with the pros and cons posted about it, Uniden may take another look and try to improve it before heading to the 996XT. Just my opinion.

Thanks for that humorous post, but to the point. I refrained from replying to Skypilot's post as I wouldn't have been so lighthearted about it.
He can't completely hate Uniden, I see at least one Uniden scanner in his shack pictures!

I think he's probably just frustrated, which I can understand. Uniden can be very frustrating at times. I'm frustrated as to why they haven't yet come out with a model that will decode TDMA, but I also know that Paul is keenly aware that they eventually need to (especially with the apparent demise of GRE).

That being said, they have released two firmware updates in the past year that have dealt with P25 issues, so for anyone to suggest that they don't give a crap about anything once they have your money, is nonsense.

I'd buy a 996XT tomorrow if I had the extra money. I like that scanner alot. I had the 396T and it worked well with my area back then, Now with newer firmware in the few years after I sold my 396T, it would probably work fine. But I guess others with full P25 systems they listen to, Im sure it can be frustrating waiting for the firmware updates.

I have the money put aside for one more scanner, I guess we're all waiting to see what Uniden does with TDMA, I feel like I'm going to be disappointed, I still like a keypad on a scanner, the PSR800 and the HP-1 just don't do it for me, with that, if Uniden or GRE (if still around) has no keypad on their new models, the money will be spent at Atlantic City.

Guys Guys GUYS! Let me get the last word here! For the next five to seven minutes, anyway. LOL

I used to have to go down to the "Dry Dock Pub" on a Saturday afternoon and pay $2.75 for a Seven & Seven just to hear some cranky guy at the end of the bar spewing garbage like this. Thankfully, they would haul Mr. Foley out of there by 2. After that, it was a delightful afternoon.

Now, anyone without a valid driver’s license can take those frustrations out here – No Premium Subscription required!! It beats kicking the cat, right?

There is nothing worse than listening to people argue over something for which there IS NO KNOWN answer. The "No it isn't - Yes it is" debates are nonetheless mildly entertaining. I wish there was an Admin that could go back through all posts, just to say, “Na, Na…We TOLD you so!! You ARE an idiot.”
As Foley used to say, “ F Pontiac! – They don’t care about us OR my car. If they come out with another car, I’ll shoot myself!” That’s why we still have to put up with Mr. Foley at the Dry Dock Pub…$8.00 drinks (Ouch) - and that’s why I have bookmarked this thread.

Thank you Ronaldski, for dragging up this week-old post. I was bored.

I'm looking forward patiently for the 996XT update - within 6 months - or I am an A$$!

Thanks a lot, Steve. That was NINE minutes. I was typing nice things about you in another thread. I’m editing that now.

I just returned to eliminate all doubt or controversy. Regardless of the update, I AM an A$$. I didn’t want to introduce another source for argument. Thank you and good night.

If you smell something, say something.
