Default 996XT cutting out

This is driving me batty...

It seems to happen all the time on Conventional frequencies, even more so when there are dispatches going out. The sound just drops out. I do not use priority at all, so that isn't the issue. I miss a lot of information because the sound just drops.

Any suggestions?

Could it be weak signal or Interference? Or does it cut ever 5 sec like if its Priority on?

It doesn't seem steady enough to be a priority. Definitely not a weak signal. Could too string a signal do it?

Have you tried turning off Weather Priority? Hit the WX button until it says "WX PRI Off" This is different from the regular channel priority setting. Gets alot of people

Make sure your squelch is not set too high.

Similarly, make sure your antenna is not too low.
