It does have a snooze button, if that's what you mean.
Had to look over at it to see.
But turn it's self off No.

A Sleep Timer will turn the scanner off after a programmable amount of time. All Alarm Clocks have one. Even my Bedside Shortwave radio has one. I wrote to Uniden several times asking for it. I did not see it listed in the description so I thought I would ask in here if anyone knows.

Question for Paul: Previous iterations of Uniden desktop clock/radio/scanners had the ability to sync the time with the WWVB broadcasts. Does the BC345CRS have that feature?

I'll answer this one. I found the Manual is already posted on the Uniden site. The only instructions it gives is for setting the clock manually. It makes no mention of Atomic Clock. It would be a nice feature but is not a deal breaker for me. It does however have a battery backup that uses 3 AA batteries to maintain the clock and scan for a short time without power.

Cool

I like the idea of this scanner, especially the feature the OP was inquiring about which is the sleep timer. I could see this working out fine on my nightstand. However, after reading the online manual, I am disappointed. I understand that this is made to be a basic scanner to sit on a nightstand. But here is my main gripe, the scanner does not have PL / DPL tones. Why this feature is not included as standard is beyond me. If I was to put this scanner to use, monitoring my local E.R.S. on my nightstand before going to bed, it would lock up on stations I don't care to hear because of the lack of tone programming, therefore negating the sleep timer feature. I don't understand it, they go all out to even include millitary air coverage, and not include something as basic as PL / DPL tones to lock out unwanted channels. I would LOVE this scanner if it had tones. My house is almost 475 feet above sea level in a neighborhood where all the utilities are underground. Reception is awesome! I don't really need an external antenna for most of my monitoring. This unfortunately means everything comes in, even the stuff you don't want to hear. Tone programming is a must have for me.
Even not having 800 coverage doesn't bother me! The sensitivity specs on this radio are really good. This only adds to my afore mentioned problem! So unfortunately, the sleep timer feature will not be enough to convince me to buy this radio. Too bad!

I'm hoping that the 345 draws as little power as the older 340 does - which is about 100ma at 12v, which makes it my favorite for solar-powered / small battery scanning outings.

Remember that only the 370 had the atomic clock sync feature, and not the 340 so I'm not surprised the 345 doesn't have it. However, in the 345 you now get milair, which only used to be available in the higher-priced 370!

Perhaps if Uniden revamps the 370 they might consider PL tone decoding for the "advanced" clock-radio scanner user like us. Maybe throw in an attenuator function. Even so, it looks like the 345 is a nice consolidation of both units if a revamped 370 is not in the cards...

Default Uniden BC-370CRS

Paul--If you see this posting...the last user has a great idea. Please include CTCSS/DCS and of course narrow banding capability. There is till a market for this base w/atomic clock but also put in a better audio amplifier too. Not everyone wants the new BC-345CRS or the BC355N Mobile/Base. Most users like a numeric keypad sir.
Hope everyone stays safe along the East Coast, especially Metro NY And No. New Jersey.

Bob
