Default 996XT and ProScan - pulling my hair out!

Would someone familiar with ProScan explain to my why when I establish a Site in the the "Systems" tab, and then start assigning Groups from the "Systems" tab - when I go to the "Quick Keys/Search Key" tab the Site shows up under System Quick System Status area, but the Group assignments don't populate Group Quick Key Status area?

When I don't see this happening, it feels like something isn't working, so how much time do I want to spend parsing a 13 site, 40 agency system.

I've invested dozens of hours and don't seem to be able to make the BASIC functionality work the way it should.

ProScan has such a lovely interface, but it's breathtakingly disappointing essential no user support exists. There's no manual, the website has details on everything EXCEPT the basic functionality, and I've been waiting to get admitted into their "Forum" (why does this require approval????) for over 24 hours.

I REALLY want this software to work, and for $50 I would expect more.

Please help. Thank you.

This is EXACTLY why I use FreeScan.

Have you read the Proscan forum in the Software section of this board?

W8RMH,

It would be helpful for me to know if this is a specific bug you've encountered with ProScan - one which prevents proper programming and modifications - or just a general opinion about one piece of software vs. the other.

Thank you.

I have no need to as FreeScan has served me well. "If it ain't broke don't fix it" and I sure ain't going to pay for something that I can get for free and it is easier to use.

Yes, but there's not much there that I can find. The "official" thread is just release announcements, congratulations, and update requests.

No really technical help that I can find.

Thanks

PS - I'm willing to pay for software that works, and I find ProScan's interface infinitely more pleasant to deal with that FreeScan or ARC Pro

The author of Proscan, Bob offers online support on the thread. I suggest you back up your activation or uninstall through the program if you reinstall Windows very often. I've played with Windows Betas since the XP days and upgrade often. It looks like I'm reinstalling Proscan too many times.

I've only installed ProScan once, and I'm running it on Windows 7 via Parallels on a Mac. But I don't think that's the problem. I have no difficulties running any other software on this side of my Mac.

Thanks.

Rescue611, not sure if this is what you're experiencing, but I had an issue where not all systems were showing up under the GQK section, and Bob's suggestion to download from scanner fixed it. Here is a link to my post in the Official Proscan thread followed by his reply.

Send me an email so I can give you access to the ProScan forum. It was at one time automated but due to hackers from a certain country, I had to make it a manual process.

For the help file, click on the Help menu. The manual attempts to explain the ProScan functions. What it doesn't do is explain the scanner functions.
