Default Uniden 8500/9000 style scanner

What other models did Uniden make that was the same style as these with the big rotary knob on the front. Wasnt the 895 and 898 some of the newer ones with the same design ?
I want one to dedicate to MilAir listening.

Thanks

just my .2 cents. if you want something with functionality that looks like the bc8500/9000, get the bc898t if you can. although the 898t is somewhat more limited in coverage than the others, it is a far better performer then the 8500/9000. both had horrible front end overload. i could kick myself for not getting 2 of the 898t's. the 898t by far has one of the best set of ear's of any base scanner. i use it for all of my analog stuff. if you just want an 8500/9000 for historic/archive purposes, then by all means get em'.

forgot - the milair reception is also supreme.

I had an 898T, which I sold, and I agree with PDFDEMS286, "one of the best set of ears of any base scanner". Also, the audio quality is the best of any scanner I've owned. It puts the newer Unidens to shame. The only drawback, for me, was the 2 second delay that can't be adjusted. That was the main reason why I sold it and got a 15X.

ive owned my 898t for over 6 years now,and even though my prime scanner is my GRE PSR500,I still use it for conventional freq's when im dxing freq's from western New York.i find that it has much better reception for these freq's than the GRE.

Another one is PRO-2045 that was made for Radio Shack and it uses the same optional tone board as 9000. It has milair coverage.

If it covered the MilAir band it would be perfect.

Default Uniden 8500/9000 Style Scanner

You might also want to consider a Radio Shack PRO-2045. They are a little less feature rich than the BC895XLT, but a pretty sensitive, selective receiver.

That would work too. I have about 150 Mil Air channels that i listen to, So a 200 channel Pro-2045 would be about perfect.
