Yup I remember those days too i had a bought a brand new BC 200 and three months later I brought it back to were i bought it at Arnold's electronics to have the Mod that many BC 200 owners were having done at that time on there BC 200's
On the bench there was 8 of them in front of mine 5 had the Mod 3 were in the process and mine got done by the end of the Day I took it in on the Day they were open late) I immediately seen the difference in the scan speeds.. and other things that was done.. It was like a whole new scanner...
But the Radio to buy at the Time if one could afford it was the AOR 8000, were i bought my scanners had two of them.. I wanted one, I had part of the money my Dad's at the time.
to pay half down and take the Radio and pay off the rest..
But i thought i'd let it slide a couple of months to add some more money to get it and that was the wrong thing to do.! the FCC stepped in pulled the rights to let businesses to sell it. the reason the radio had the full 800mHz spectrum capability in it.
All AOR 8000 radios as I told that wasn't already sold to customers even the one's that were on Lay-A-Way at there store had to be returned back to AOR for Adjustment.. at the time I couldn't believe it but at the time I didn't Quite grab the Magnitude of it but I do now and that's why i'm glad for the Labels that are on our Current Radios..
To End) Arnold's Electronics was were I bought all of my Scanners and had them worked on if needed but they have been closed for some time now..
The Arnold's were good Electronics people and they were a family business for many years..
Here are the Radios that I'v had throughout the past since getting my BC-145 in 1988..
2. BC 760XLT's
1. BC 855XLT It was a 800mHz scanner with 50 frequencies but with a slight Mod it was bumped up to 100 with a faster scan Rate..
2 BC 200's 1 brand new one 1. that was slightly used
1. BC 890 1. BC 895 and 1. BC 895XLT
continuing on. 1. used SC 150 which i hated
and sold quickly
1. BC 235 traded it for 1. BC 245XLT
I then bought the BC 780 which i thought was the best Radio at that time I like it so much I bought another one for mobile use) My last Radio that I bought from Arnold's was the BC 250 D I love the radio but hated the center roll wheel it was a pain in Butt especially when the wheel wouldn't roll..
